Actually a good comparison because they're at the same price point. If anything it should motivate Nissan to step their game up. Sad since Nissan was the pioneer of the fully electric vehicle with the LEAF.

@@Gjeebs My EV journey started with a brand new 2015 Nissan LEAF when they were giving them away back then. Had plan to trade it in for a Model 3 with a Tesla-projected $35K-ish price at launch. Decided against it when the 2018 base Model 3 ended up costing north of $50K, and kept my LEAF until prices of used cars had gone way up during COVID; ended up getting rid of the thing for practically the same $ I paid for it. And then early last November when Tesla's vehicle prices collapsed, I bought me my very first Tesla used directly from Tesla when they were giving away their 2023 M3P with included FSD package; just like Nissan made me a LEAF offer I couldn't refuse in 2015, Tesla made me a FSD-equipped-M3P offer I couldn't refuse last November; for me FSD is practically free!! Last March, I took advantage of their free FSD transfer.. promptly traded in my 2023 M3P (HW3) for a brand new 2024 MYP without losing a penny -- my MYP started with FSD v11.4.9 and has FSD v12.5.2 installed since September 4, 2024.

The Nissan ProPilot on the Leaf is a good as Tesla's Autopilot, if not better. I leased a 2019 SL (higher trim level no longer offered) for 2 years to do my work commute. Turn on ProPilot and the car would steer itself on marked roads and included adaptive speed control. The steering wheel did not need to be torqued to let the system know you had the hands on the wheel like the Tesla. In 2 years I had only 2 instances of "phantom braking", and those were minor braking for a split second. The car was very quiet and yes, the seats (leather in my case) were quite comfortable. The Leaf is MUCH easier to enter and exit than a M3. With e-pedal on, it has true one pedal driving, something the Ariya does not have. The Leaf supplies battery temp, range efficiency, charging time is all there, but you just need to know where to look. It has the all around view camera which is not available in any Tesla to date. It only has charging timers, but it does not have a charge limit (ie 80%). It has the stealth EV appeal as described, no one is screaming at you or key lacing your door. The Leaf is dated but if I still had mine, I would be happy with it commuting or around town.

Excellent review, as usual. One additional thing that I believe is still true is the Leaf has no battery thermal management, which can result in "cold-gating" when fast-charging due to an overly cold or hot battery. The lack of thermal management, at least in the past, has lead to shorter battery lifespan and the need for complete battery replacement. I am not 100% sure these things are still true on current-generation Leaf's, but I think they are. If I am correct about that, then I would only ever recommend a Leaf if it is leased for a very low price and then returned to the dealer at the end of the lease and before the traction battery warranty expires. Perhaps one of the other folks in the comment section who is more knowledgeable than me can validate or refute the battery issues I mention. All the best.

@williamgrunzweig5713 ай бұрын
....yah have you seen the cost. Try finding a chademo to CCS1 and you looking at over 700 US dollars. CCS2 is not compatible in the US. No, the adaptor is pointless as the Leaf can't handle the full power of a basic CCS lvl3 at 150kw. The leaf is decades old tech...its dead.
@leafnutz23413 ай бұрын
@@williamgrunzweig571 Yes, I've seen the cost of the adapter. It was $1000 just a few months ago so it's already come down 30%. I'm not sure why you would say the apdapter is pointless considering how many more charging stations it opens up for Leaf owners. I'm not saying the Leaf is a better EV than the M3 but this review is kinda silly and biased. No mention of Leafspy, no mention of the Leaf's reliability, no mention of how the Leafs battery doesn't catch on fire. and then he gets some information straight up wrong ie charging speeds.

I recently stopped driving my 2012 Nissan Leaf for the Highlander AWD. It's amazing how little the Leaf has changed in the last 12 years. Some things have actually gotten worse like the drive screen. One thing I give to the Nissan...1 service for wear items in 12 years. The Tesla went in during the first 2 weeks for a manufacturer defect. I never thought of Tesla as a luxury car but this one feels like it. With the Tesla you can watch around your car for someone to walk near and you can make your car fart at them. Some things are just worth the extra price. LOL I agree Musk is selling electric cars and crapping on the people who buy them. Nobody else can afford to loose so much money making mistakes.

I'm thinking about shopping between a Tesla 3 and a Nissan Leaf, things I've noticed so far are better in one car and better in the other car. Nissan much better interior, nicer steering wheel, nicer seat, the look of the whole interior is much nicer and more attractive when it is TEKNA equipment. The Tesla 3 looks more sporty from the outside Nissan has more space in the car Tesla 3 is better known, it will be sold as an electric vehicle rather The Nissan has nicer headlights and rims Tesla 3 looks good with a spoiler Nissan does not have a spoiler Tesla 3 has fast charging. Nissan it's much easier to turn on the air conditioning, heating and everything else, everything is at the push of a button, which I appreciate in a car Tesla 3 God forbid you have to turn on the air conditioner while driving or to hack that screen, the Tesla 3 goes in the trunk of cars in my country. What is your choice of car?
