Nissan Navara D23 Review - Should I Buy One?

EDIT! It's actually a 7 speed auto! My bad! In this video Intents Offroad is taking a first look at the new D23 Nissan Navara. This is the ST model, with factory rear diff lock, 7 speed automatic transmission, and 2.3 litre twin turbo diesel engine.

Good to see another vid Alex! I checked out the 2017 Navara a couple weeks ago and was so impressed with it, definitely a huge move from the previous generation ones. But as you said, give it 6 months to see what issues arise... looking forward to seeing more stuff from you.

Best double cab 4x4 on the market. Least amount of issues, best looking (IMO) and just gets it done. Had mine for 4 years and hasn’t missed a beat.

Yeah, I think better wait to see if it got some D40 issues. I got a D40 myself, won't say it's the good one engine and maintenance wise. I love it's look and feels sturdy.

Hi Alex at the beginning of this vid you mentioned you towed a campervan with this vehicle. How did that go? I own a 2010 D40 Navara which has a chip, three inch exhaust and had a brand new turbo fitted prior to the trip but found pulling a 24 foot caravan to Coral Bay it was way underpowered.Be interested in your comments.Regards bigezi

This thing has some serious poke! The camper I towed with it had a dry weight of 1450kg and had a bit of water on board so I'd say about 1550kg. The Navara certainly didn't have the same get up with it attached, but it had no trouble maintaining speed, even towing up the hill to dwellingup :)

I'm having trouble with power shutting down when I'm passing on uphill grades and regular passing slower traffic...I have to stop my truck and disconnect the battery to reset the computer....can I have this problem replaced?

Hi I'm from New Zealand and intrested In maby getting a 2wd navara st I see alot of reviews and comments about the navara in Australia mostly negative is that due to driving conditions being different than over here I only say this as I know at least 6 people who own st navaras 3 of them use them for work and have towed heavy loads with them no problem everything from 3 ton trailers to scissor lifts and building supplies the other guy has one to tow his drift car has no problem with towing his trailer all of the people I've mentioned have owned there navaras more than 2 years or more telling me that they have had very few or no problems engine wise with them or the mechanical components on the ute

It leakes a lot. Even brand new. Be prepared to pay top dollar for faulty sensors when leakage strucks. Hope Nissan extend its warranty at least 5years, if NOT don't buy. Look other for utes.

Renault 2 litre with oversized pistons which were known for bottom end failure. single row timing chain and they say they can tow 3.5 tonne

nope nope and nope its a standard 2.3l engine designed as a 2.3 as part of a family of engines that has a 2l model in it. If they were oversized pistons that would make the engine capacity smaller, It can tow 3.5 tonne, timing chain has nothing to do with towing capacity, max TQ is delivered at a set engine RPM and the timing chain has no bearing on load capacity it just ensures the timing is kept. Stop watching west yorkshire engine services films they are full of misleading and inaccurate engineering information.

I think its more the fact of how many issues have plagued navaras since the D22. Then you add the terrible customer service nissan gave the people afterwards. Yes coils are better but not worth all the other dramas that go with it. Why roll the dice on navara again when there are so many other proven utes to build off?

I wouldn't get a Nevara if you paid for it. Not trying to piss on your parade Alex, but look at the very poor approach and departure angles for one. Add to that they they have a bad reputation for snapping their chassis in the middle and would need to be heavily modified before any serious off roading..... why would you spend so much money on something that is so sub standard!! I can see some great recovery videos coming up if you waste your hard earned cash on one of these. Maybe that's a good thing for us sitting at home watching you get bogged everywhere hehe. I would rather get a Ford Ranger and spend cash modding one of those. Been missing regular vids from you Alex... you gotta keep your subs satisfied with new content ;)

Sir_Forsaken you have no idea and you clearly can't spell if you knew anything about rangers you would know the electronic systems are fucked in them. I am dual trade auto electrician and heavy Diesel fitter as far as vehicles go Ford rangers and Mitsubishi have more problems than any vehicle combined. I drive a d Max and it even has its faults. As far as utes go Nissan is in the top 5 percent behind LandCruiser and land Rover. As I have worked on over 8000 vehicles in my career of all different makes and models I'd say I have a fair idea on what vehicles are potential pieces of shit. most Nissan utes will give over 300k without any problems. especially if they were the Spanish built models not the cheap this built shit. Just like you will get 500 thou k of a cruiser before you start spending big dollars.

It’s a Renault transit van engine bored out to a 2.3 litre engine with bigger pistons . Still has the Renault van single row timing chain. Give it a few years ,these things will be snapping timing chains left right and centre. The block is cast iron (wtf) . Cheap skate Nissan. Also the bottom radiator hose rubs on the compressor pulley ( makes hole, no coolant, overheat, bye bye Navara.) Would not buy 1 if my life depended on it 👎
