Hi all, Take the Triton without any doubt. Here in New-Caledonia i use the L200 (previous model). There are so many L200 on Nickel mining companies here, it's reliable, comfy, roomy and easy to customize. For 1 Navara or BT50 on mine, you'll see 500 or more L200 in the same time. Can't wait to have the new L200. Sheers.

Bt-50 is the beast with 3.2L engine..the best exterior design ever.. Mazda should have to do is to modified the head light with LED...I love this pick up..

These Three utes are great for work and play. The Firing Line is for my dad's choice of utes which has thousands of accessories and can put propellers on Top and wings down the bottom on both sides.

Drove the Mazda in Ghana for one week and fell immediately in love with this truck. Traveling in it was a breeze considering all the pot holes in the roads. Going to the airport my wife and two kids and eight suitcases wasn't a problem. I will buy this over the ford or Mitsubishi.

This review is 3 years old now and the Mazda BT50 still in its current form ,still...out performs the newer updated model brands of these two with its on-road dynamics , towing , load capacity and its 4x4 off road Capabilities as many motoring and 4x4 reviews show on recent ute testing. Not bad for so called outdated!

I bought the navara stx and I'll never look back true the steering is a bit heavy but everything else makes it well worth it. I'm not sure where he got 9.5l /100k from mine is always under 8 averaging about 7.4 also I've carried loads in the back and found no movement

Took the Triton and BT50 for a test run. The Mazda is a fine car but it couldn't impress enough to choose it over the Triton especially the price. the Triton was surprisingly nice to drive in every way and looks nicer too. I'll buy it.

you need weight in the back of a dual cab or ute for them to be comfortable. The rear suspension is heavy duty so weightless its very stiff

I have driven all three of these but mine was the STX. I would choose the Nissan any day. The Mazda is so out dated and the Mitsi just does not drive anything like the Nissan. This guy has no idea. The Nissan is so quiet its unbelievable.

You don't buy a BT50 for comfort and luxury, you buy it because it's the only one of these three and others that's actually built to be a true fucking work horse! It's suspension is stiff so it doesn't drag its ass and cause an accident when your hauling a heavy load, unlike the Navara which will fuck you about the moment you throw a sand bag in it.

A load? What like a bundle of wood and some tents? Or some furniture when moving house? When you load it up with a 3+ tonne firefighting unit on a trailer and a tonne of reserve water on the tray, you can let me know how it performs. If you want a ute that can odd jobs, buy a navara, but if you want to have a real go about life, buy a BT.

I totally agree pop man , as a Tradie myself and have driven all utes worth testing when updating my old hilux Ute I also found the mazda to be a better load carrying work horse along with more room inside for the family, a Diesel engine that unstressed with boat load of torque. As for the standard specs ( auto lights/wipers,7.8"infotainment etc and capped services at $200 inc and a 150,000km warranty 3 year Mazda care packages etc) you get , its great for the money spent , a XTR 2WD (aka) GSX in New Zealand is around $38k with on road costs included . It looks much better now with the new front and taillights update and they dress up well if you are one of them suits in a ute ,and like kitting out your ute.

It's interesting doing comparisons on running costs of the vehicles. After three years the total cost of the services ranks Navara 1st, Mitsu second and the BT50 third. Mazda are ripping their customers off with 10,000k service intervals where Ford are doing 15000k intervals at cheaper overall pricing for equivalent vehicle. The BT50 falls into 6 cyclinder registration costs due to its 5 cylinder engine and uses 20% more fuel per 100km than the others. It would be nice if the review did a cost of ownership breakdown as well.

Andrew Cornhill your full of shit ... #1 service intervals at 10k is done for greater longevity of the engine components as Diesel engines destroy the engine oil very quickly,any diesel mechanic will tell you this !#2 20% more fuel per 100 km ,let me tell you something... that maybe on paper but in the real world it’s far from the truth it’s not funny, we tested this and found that larger engines were getting better fuel economy regardless if loaded or unloaded on open road driving due to the smaller capacity engines having to work harder than there larger capacity engines over the same test roads.
