We tried renting an EV in Japan, but what we got was a hybrid Nissan Note E-Power. Why do you think Japan and Japanese car manufacturers are so far behind the EV revolution? Or are they correct to still focus on hybrid vehicles? Share your comments below!

The Ram 1500 Ramcharger Is a Different Type of EV. This all-electric truck happens to carry around a gas-powered generator. While Ram's first battery-electric pickup truck caught our attention when it arrived earlier this year, the automaker's second venture in the segment might come to redefine the space.

e-power cars save the planet and until all charging stations and batteries and charging times improve a lot and also most people live in apartment blocks so don't have home charging and even if you do .... when you're on the road ..you have to use charging stations that take a long time to....

I liked this car. I understand it’s not a pure EV but a hybrid. In some instances this would be a good car to have to compliment the EV you already have.

Like I said in the video a good gateway car to the world of EVs for people who are not yet ready to take the plunge.

Sounds like the hybrid power system that was in the GM Volt (manufactured from 2010 to 2019).
@LeftCoastEV2 ай бұрын
Very similar to the Volt. However, GM decided to put in a larger battery and allow for Level 2 charging so the Volt from back in the day was still more of an EV than this Nissan I drove.

Honda calls it newer hybrid cars eHEV. Its a series hybrid similar to this, very quiet and smooth like an EV. They also sell plugin hybrids, they call them PHEV.

Japanese companies have already spent billions of dollars.Perfecting the internal combustion engine that can last 300,000km. So they don't want to move to EV or plug in hybrid. Meanwhile, other companies only need to buy batteries from CATL and get vehicles that can reach 1,000,000 km.

Well said. Japan did invest huge sums of money into their car industry and the ecosystem that surrounds it. This is why they are getting cold feet and not wanting to jump into the EV space yet.

Nissan is bringing e-Power to the states in the next few years. The BMW i3 REX was the first example of this kind of powertrain setup available in North America.

Just a comment. Train locomotives have a diesel engine that drives a generator, producing electricity that then powers electric motors to move the train. The E-Power has the addition of a battery for a number of reasons.
@LeftCoastEV2 ай бұрын
Thanks. Care to elaborate on what those reasons are? I want to learn as much as I can about this technology.

the new MG MG3 Self charging ev works the same was but since that has more options they are more hybrid than ev

Not a fan of hybrid cars at all. If you are thinking of going hybrid just go full electric. It amazes me still how reluctant Japan is to embrace EVs.
@LeftCoastEV2 ай бұрын
The reluctance is apparent in the EV charger we saw at the service station. 50kW unit. Only one connector. And it is CHAdeMO. Thanks for watching!

Even the Japanese government doesn't support the move to EVs.
@westcoastbestcoast882 ай бұрын
@@DeniSaputta It’s a shame really that they don’t see the value of EV investment. I do hope that they catch up, but who knows it might already be too late with the EVs coming out of China right now. Even the CEO of Ford said that Chinese manufacturers are light years ahead of legacy auto when it comes to EVs.

Guys on what planet are you living? Japan were the first to try ev and see the + and the -, they clearly knew that Bev aren’t viable with current battery technology and the hybrids are the better option. If you don’t see that simply no point of talking further
