BTW, if you don't have a torque wrench, you can just feel and eyeball it. It has a mark from the factory on the bolt and pan, so you can just feel when the washer is getting crushed and then line up the two lines. Easiest to see with an open ended wrench.

Great detailed instruction as always. How do you like it compared to the older CR-V you had? The new oil filter location is great because the older Rogues had it near the passenger wheel. Some minuses though, with all of the plastic clip and composite oil pan.

The Rogue is a much better riding car than the old CRV. The new Rogue is quiet, smooth, plenty of power (with the turbo engine). I have always liked the way Nissan car's drive.

Those compatibility guide is not up to date on the listing site. The filter for the Rogue 1.5L is 15208 65F1B. The link has the correct filter.

According to the manual showed the spark plug is LMAR8G8GS, but I can’t find the correct one for NGK spark plug to meet this 1.5 three cylinder engine. Do you have any suggestions for this

I just checked that PN, and from what I can tell, it appears this NGK spark plug PN ILMAR8G8GS is specifically made for Nissan, and if want to buy it, you will need to buy it from Nissan PN 22401-6RC1E. So you can go to your Nissan dealer service dept and order/purchase it there. The price should be around $25. The good thing is you only need 3.

Hi , first let me thank you for this high-quality video. Second i'm from Europe and i bought this summer a Nissan Rogue with the same engine. ( here is x-trail ) now i have 5000 miles on the clock and i would like to change the oil. I never go more than 6000 miles with one oil. The dealer ship here says that they change the oil every 9300 miles or a year. What do you think ?

Here is N America, most people including dealers will change the oil every 5000 miles. I know the Rogue has some internal maintenance minder that specify changing it every 7500 miles. But it's your car, service it however you want to. I would not go a 9000 miles between oil change. That oil will be very dirty.

Since I also own this car, I also hope the engine will have no future issues. I do have a friend that work at Nissan, and he told me he has not seen any issue with this engine. So I will just do regular maintenance and hope it will last. The funny thing is people think other Japanese or Korean car companies has no issues with their engine. Even Toyota/Honda/Hyundai all have had their share of engine problems. I use to own a Honda Odyssey that burn oil and I did regular maintenance on it. So all you can do is take care of it and hope it will have no issues.

@@dial2fast Honestly almost all the new cars have some kind of problems. So I bought the extra warranty for mine. It’s my first time owning a car with three cilindree engine.I liked the car so much that it was kind of a impulse buy. So i am a bit concerned about the engine durability and the gearbox. Heard some people have had issues with the CVT’s. Thanks for the reassurance for now ill keep enjoying the car and try my best to care of it.

I can just see myself taking 20 minutes to get that splash guard off, and then wanting to keep it off. Would that be a warranty question if I do that? OR, does this car have anything particularly critical to it that shouldn't get wet? Also, the link for that tool you use to pull the plastic clips just takes me to a whole set of tools for removing all the panels in the car. What is the name of the tool so I can find just that one?

That plastic shield is there for reducing noise, aerodynamics, and some protection. As to voiding warranty, the dealer often will use any reason to avoid servicing your car or worst case void the warranty (regardless they are allowed to or not). And you are left to defend and argue your case. As for the tool, I believe you are referring to the angled push pin pliers amzn.to/3yE8LVG

@@dial2fast I just bought a Rogue a little over a year ago, and only just reaching my 7500 mile change. I have always prided myself on doing it myself but thought I'd find a video on how to do it, in case they placed the filter in a hard to reach place (like my last car!). The Rogue looks tremendously easy, until I saw that shield. It made me decide that at least for this first in the middle of winter, I'm going to pay for the first time in over 25 years to have it done. Maybe I'll cave in after awhile. How long do you think those plastic clips are going to last? My guess, 2 or 3 more oil changes and they are shot, disappointing to see that Nissan makes you go through so much trouble just to get at the plug and filter, should have had a flap in the cover with a quick release mechanism to get at the underside for oil and filter change. All filters should be on top of the engine so that when you stop the engine the filter drains back to the pan, much like Subaru does with their engines. Also disappointed to see they make you use synthetic oil, that stuff is really pricy most places. Oh well, I guess that is the price of progress, really enjoyed the video, well done, thanks for making it.

If removed correctly, they will allow for many removal/installs. If new ones needed, very cheap at most part stores.

I'd like to point out that they always say to change the oil a 5000 mi. or 6 months. My opinion is to ignore the 6 months. Oil has been in the ground for millions of years, it's not going to go bad just sitting in your car.

The difference is the additives that are put into it. Overtime those degrade and the oil is no longer up to standards as it once was for your engine.

They could have used a better design for the shield with better materials, like using metal, then had a smaller opening. Instead, they chose the cheapest material possible and used cheap plastic clips to hold it all in place. All about saving a buck.

Appreciate the tutorial, but its funny that its coming from someone where its clear they haven't changed the oil on a Rogue before, lol! I did mine and didn't spill a drop. I do wish it was like a Mercedes or Subaru with the oil filter on top of the engine, then you can just use a vacuum pump and never have to get under the vehicle at all.

FILL the oil filter with oil otherwise you will have no oil pressure for a few seconds until the oil pump fills the filter. And with a vertical installed oil filter, there is no excuse.

18 plastic clips and 2 bolts just to get to the drain plug and filter. What a terrible cheap design! Yeah, the plastic clips won't break./s Should be a simple opening, that just folds down or comes off. And having the drain bolt towards the sump front means if ramps used, not all oil removed. Such a diy unfriendly design. And having watched yts on the new 2.5L Rogue and Sentra, basically the same set up. If I was interested in any of these vehicles, this would be a deal breaker. You did great, but glad it's you not me.
