Checked the door prior to installing new actuator and it was not sticking….. I installed an inverted snap ring on the cracked end of the shaft before applying the glue… I am wondering if there is a thermostat somewhere which is not sending the signals to the actuator to work properly…. Will appreciate any suggestions….. This video is a great tutorial… Thank you….
@HammerWrenchАй бұрын
I’m not sure about the thermostat. If there is an auto climate button, then it would adjust the doors without manual input. I wonder if the stepper motor stob spun inside the white bore. That would create the issue again. If the door isn’t at the same position that the motor is calling for based on the knob, the door would reach its limit and the motor would force adjustment until it slipped or cracked the bore.

@RamRam-cg3rq5 ай бұрын

@HammerWrench5 ай бұрын
Glad to help out! Hold off on that WD40. The stepper motor may be slipping inside the blend door hex bore. It will strip/crack the hex shape and make it where the door won’t respond. That’s why I used super glue and hot glue to try to repair. Depending on if it’s single or dual temp, there could be up to 4 stepper motors.

I'm having a problem with this right now. Haven't taken anything apart yet. Do you think it would be possible to get a piece of heat shrink tubing around this part and then be able to get it shrunk down to keep it tight?
@HammerWrench7 ай бұрын
I think the stepper motor would just force its way thru whatever support the heat shrink gave. One commenter used a small collar of some kind of metal around the white hex bore to keep his from flexing. And it worked. He didn’t leave details of what kind of metal tho. Some have used epoxy in the hex bore and plastic food wrap on the stepper motor stob to keep it from sticking. That way he can service it in the future. Let me know what works. Not many videos on it and there are thousands of viewers looking for an answer that doesn’t cost $2700 at Nissan.

@HammerWrench11 ай бұрын
If the motor is plugged in before the car starts, it will turn to the position called for on the ACs temp dial. You should be able to watch it turn. As far as clockwise, I’m unsure. How much does it cost approximately to get it replaced with parts and labor?
@HammerWrench10 ай бұрын
Nissan will replace the whole HVAC center stack. Just the part is $2700 plus labor. They have to remove the dash to do it. Many people are attempting to repair the hex drive themselves with hot glue or epoxy and are successful. The repair site is easy to get to and worth a try to save money on a full replacement. Another commenter said that Nissan has the blend door that can be bought for $10. Then again, youd have to remove the dash and open up the center stack to swap the new part in. This should have been a recall item.

I have a similar issue with cold on one side, warm on other side and takes long to cool down on hot days but cools down quickly to almost freezing up when its cooler outside (little to no air unless i turn off the ac for a bit). Do you think this could be my issue? Already changed expansion valve, temperature sensors and seems like the system holds pressure for now, from pressure test (pressure slightly low on low pressure side). Appreciate your video, do you also believe the motor isnt necessarily the issue but the door connector itself not making proper contact?
@HammerWrench8 ай бұрын
It seems like it’s one or the other. When you open up the stepper motor location, you can test to see if the motor works, and if the hex bore is stripped at the same time. If the motor works, it’s most likely the bore has stripped and will need to be repaired. I did it with superglue and hot glue. Some other commenters have used clear food wrap on top of the stepper motor stub, and applied epoxy inside the bore to make a firm contact. The purpose of the food wrap is to keep the epoxy from sticking to the stepper motor stub. It is essential that you have the stepper motor and blend door positioned to the same temperature when reinstalling. you can do this by starting the car, commanding what temperature, watching the stepper motor stub move in that direction while it is plugged in to the wire and then turn the blend door, bore with your finger until you feel that temperature air come out of the vents. leave the air on while you make repairs and everything will remain in that position. I hope this helps in good luck with your project trying this out as much cheaper than asking Nissan to deal with it. It’s a $2700 repair with those guys.

Replaced a new blend door to my rogue and it lasted for only two to three mths, would it be this issue? That there’s a crack?
@HammerWrench9 ай бұрын
Yes. It is probably a crack in the hex drive or that it stripped. If the blend door isn’t clocked into the same position as the stepper motor, it can force turn inside the opening, thus stripping. I’ve used super glue on the cracks and then hot glue in the bore and immediately installed the motor. Some have used epoxy with plastic wrap over the motor stob so it won’t stick. Take that out when it’s dry and reinstall.

@@HammerWrench my insert is completely stripped round so i am wondering if the hot glue would just spin in there. I might try it as a more conservative first step. I was thinking of using epoxy or another type of plastic cement to make sure it bonds to the inside.
