Thank you! This video was so well done and easy to follow. I was afraid this job was going to be harder than it looked! PRO TIP FOR THOSE WATCHING: Make sure to follow the assembly steps in the exact order. For the AC belt make sure the screw/adjustment rod is in the bracket with the idler pulley before you put it in! Make sure the idler pulley screw is loose! Just as in the video: 1. put the bracket in and loosely put in the two screws to the bracket 2. put the belt 3. adjust the screw until you get the tension you want 4. Tighten the pulley, and the two bolts If you do things out of order... it will not work, as me how I know, I probably did every single possible combination wrong and only got it right until the last time.

None of the videos in KZbin show the proper procedure. When changing the AC belt in a normal situation (meaning, when the adjustment bolt does not break), the two 14mm bolts holding the idler bracket do not have to be touched. To remove belt all you have to do is loosen (do not remove) the bolt holding the idler pulley (center of the idler pulley) and then undo the long 8mm adjustment bolt as needed to remove and replace belt. Adjust the new belt with the long 8mm bolt as needed and re- tighten the pulley bolt; no bolts have to come out!!! Same thing with the power steering belt, except you have to lossen two nuts and the long adjustment as needed. It isn't necessary to remove the tire or the engine cover; that's just extra work. Replacing both belts can be done from the top!!! GOD SPEED

Attempting this with snow on the ground, 19 degrees and windy, nowhere to sit or lay down. I can't jack the car to take the wheel off. This set up is an absolute joy. The set screw at the front of the engine was rusted up pretty good so I ended up just taking the whole thing off to soak in some wd-40. We'll see how it goes.

Incredible video! Loved the description/explanation. Plus the video was perfect. Quick question. If I didn't want to have AC in my car, what would the steps be exactly? Do I remove the idler pulley in the front? Do you know what size the smaller belt would be? Other than eliminating AC, is there a concern with bypassing the AC? Thanks!
@Marty099336 ай бұрын
Hi JovanEvtimovski I don’t remember the set up on that vehicle but you should be able to get a smaller belt. I don’t know if you have to take that pulley off and you’ll just have to guess on the belt size I’ve done it on old-school pick ups 350s I just had to go to AutoZone like twice measuring and trying to get the right belt Thank you for watching. I really appreciate you.

My tensioner bolt broke too! Luckily the friend helping me could weld it back together. On my car, I can just loosen the center bolt on the pulley, then loosen the tension bolt to take the belt off. No need to mess with the bracket. The one you were working on looks like the tension pulley was already all the way back. Great video! I've done it before, but I definitely needed to refresh my memory.

That is the preferred method from what I've seen, but still a fine tutorial video. Also the torque on idler pulley is about 20lb/ft, and the rear lock nut about 17lb/ft. according to the FSM. Keep motorin'!

For future people watching this. The idler pulley nut is what secures the tensioner screw on the alternator side. This is why when he was trying to adjust the screw it broke. When changing the belt loosen that nut and the 8mm screw will move easier for tightening the belt then re-tighten that nut when done and it won’t move on you. You won’t need to remove or loosen the bracket nuts at all if you do this. Hope that makes sense and good luck out there.

@@ronaldobartolata3775 sorry to hear you're having trouble with the power steering belt try loosening the bolt more or even all the way when moving the pump if you have to use a pry bar to get more leverage power if nothing else if you can get some of the belt over the pulley you can turn the crankshaft with a wrench or rachet till it pops off and do the same putting it on .look at my video on BMW 09 X5 3.0 A/C belt. hope that helps good luck
