We have a 2010 cube that had the same issue a few weeks ago. Lucky it failed in the driveway. I did this and it worked just fine. I had a friend remove the switches and install jumpers, he was a tv repair man and when he was done the board looked like the factory did it. The key light stays on as others indicated. I followed the instructions Paula Kruse posted as far as turning the car off holding the switches etc. That way the repair to the board could be done on a bench, or in my friends case, the kitchen table. Thank you for posting this, saved me 500 bucks on the part. Also removed the gear and plunger so there is no chance of it locking the wheel, left the motor in.

This works! but I didnt need to take my micro switches off. The mechanism would not engage the switches so I used tie wraps to hold the switches down, removed the pin and wheel. Put it back together and the car loves it.... Massive thanks

How is it holding up for you eight months later? I have precisely ZERO soldering skills so this seems like a viable quick 'n dirty option for me...

Very helpful video!!! I was able to uninstall the steering lock(drill out steering column mounting bolts), and bring Module inside, and remove (unsoldered) the switches and install soldered jumper wire, just like you did...also removed the plunger, but not the motor, and installed the steering module just like it was, back in....with new bolts and screws of course (it may take a minute or two for the computer to recognize the Module, open and close the door a few times, once it senses it, starts up every time afterwards.....works like a charm!!

Thanks for the video, the same thing happened to me. My husband was able to fix the problem. His procedure was a bit different than yours which didn't require soldering while car was running, he performed these steps: The vehicle was in a locked state when these steps were performed. 1: With FOB, unlock the doors (note: steering lock is engaged when the doors lock or when anti-theft is armed) 2: Press the start button to go into accessory mode (don't press the brake yet). The motor on the steering lock turn with the expectation that it unlocks. While the motor was running press the two turquoise switches. We didn't need to press the FOB against the start button. 3: Depress brake pedal and start the car (while holding switches down) 4: While still holding switches down. Turn car off, do not lock doors 5: While still holding switches down, disconnect steering lock circuit board from the wiring harness. 6: Disconnect steering lock motor from the circuit board (we were able to remove it and it still works) 6: Pull switches from board 7: Solder jumpers 8: Connect steering lock circuit board to wiring harness. 9: Start Vehicle 10: Fixed This is the procedure that worked for us, was a bit more comfortable when soldering.

This all worked perfectly. The only annoying thing is the yellow key light is staying on. Did yours do this?

Yes, it stays on constantly. But I guess that's a small problem I can live with.

Of the six possible points to solder, the two jump wires are soldered to the four that are furthest away from the end of the circuit board. Try removing ESLC fuse for a minute then replacing if the car won't immediately start or if you did modification without the car running.

Did you use a punch out on the 2 bolts for the clamp? How did you get clamp off of steering column? With unit on column there is little too no room too drill out the 4 small pins that hold the enclosure together. Also did the key fob work fine after?

Use a chisel to make a slot... and a screwdriver to unscrew them.

+T Lav Nissan will pay to replace? What is the TSB# and is it for 2010 vehicles regardless of mileage?

As of Nov 2017, Nissan (Canada) basically told me to get stuffed. Only the Altima/Maxima got the recall up here. After 25+ years of Nissans, this'll be my last.
