Fault finding on Nissan X-Trail 2007 2.0 DCI 173BHP T31 MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor using Autel Autolink AL 619 scan tool/code reader.diagnostic socket location,
Checking using a Multimeter on resistance setting by comparing new and faulty sensor resistances.

Had the same issue with my Qashqai with 2.0l dci 150bhp. Changed the MAP sensor and jobs a good en! Video has been on youtube for 4 years and you’re still saving the day! Thanks for your help,

Really glad i came across this video. Our 2010 xtrail had sudden loss of power, limp mode home. sent into local garage who only cleared codes then sent it back to us, no work done just a bill of £42. Guess what happened, yep lite back on. Informed garage, soonest available slot 3wks time! We found this video and ordered a turbo boost valve control arrived in 1 day. it was a simple fit, fitted it, neighbour had a code reader and cleared the code. however lite reappeared almost instantly. smoke test then carried out at home to reveal no leaks from pipes or connections. We then ordered a MAF from AMZ and a code reader, 2 days arrived. read code, replaced maf, cleared code. Very happy to say back on road and performance back to normal. A very big thank you to the video host and the help provided. code reader £27 turbo boost valve control £45 Maf £29 keep rolling every one. 🙂

Hello Paula....I'm very pleased it was helpful....A lot of the problems with modern Diesels are sensors the Lamba probe (oxygen sensor) is another one that goes on these T-31's too ... I tend to drive around with a NEXAS NexLink Bluetooth plug in code reader in my and my wife's car in the glove box, at least you can clear down a code to hopefully get home.... it does take a bit of looking around the internet etc but you can generally sort things out. The one thing I would say is it's always best to go for a good brand of sensor not a cheap no/unknown brand cheapies from ebay etc.. stick to Denso, NGK, Bosch, etc... gthey usually fail in short order... Excellent video. When I first read the code and saw Turbocharger I thought "expensive!!!". With the help of forums and this video I changed the sensor yesterday and 5 trips later the engine light hasn't re-lit and the car's driving with full power so I can safely say it's fixed it!

Hello Spencer I'm glad you sorted it OK...some of the codes are a bit confusing we had it recently on a friends Honda CRV Diesel the message read like it was the position sensor on the throttle body...changed that £85... fault came back about a month later very similar code (best take a picture on yer phone!) which seemed to be a solenoid valve on the throttle body another £80 odd....low and behold month later throttle position or something like that again in limp mode... changed gas pedal sensor (over £100 under the bonnet) 4 months later still going OK! I'm sure they don't want the code descriptions too easy to understand! Ours has been OK now a year on...Cheers...Trevor

Hi Trevor. Many thanks for this video. You really helped our family. I suspected either the maf or the map and I cleaned the maf , still had intermittent boost issues, but I thought could also be stuck vanes, faulty solenoid or bad earth somewhere. After removing my old sensor and testing it , showed very similar readings to your faulty one, and since replacing with new sensor car has normal turbo function. Couldn’t be happier and was an easy fix. If you lived locally I’d buy you a few rounds :)

Hello Thanks for your kind comment....I'm pleased it worked out OK, I'm doing my best to help people and save a few quid along the way....thinking about it if you have a diagnostic code reader many of them allow you to see live data the readings from the MAP sensor should change as you rev the motor...not just checking the resistance of the sensor at atmospheric pressure.... you are right about turbos the last one I did cost £360 for an exchange unit nasty......all the best....Trevor

Checked the sensor in my car , It shows the same readings as your old defect sensor (abt 5K ohm) but mine is working fine .Must be some differences between them. My trouble is related to the particel filter

Hello Steve... Sorry Mate we have no less than 3 T31's in the family both my son's and nephew have them be we haven't had that problem yet! confusingly some cars have them on the cam shaft ie my year 2000 Suzuki Jimny..... they are hidden behind things like the alternator on quite a few cars... Let me Know when you do find it and we can post it up should only be held with a screw or two and just plug in....All the best Trevor

Hello Kamal sorry to hear you having problems have you scanned the car with a code reader? there are some surprisingly cheap ones about now, which work via an app on your phone and a bluetooth plug unit....see what stored codes come up...the mass air flow sensor can be cause similar problems you can clean them with a proper cleaner as well as the EGR valve wynns do a spray cleaner good for both....
