Jimmy can go to a paint store and buy all base coats clear coats and any primers mixed and made for cans. Single stage paints as well. We always paint engines epoxy primer scuff pad it then base and clear. As long as it’s sanded all prepped spray paint will stay. Have to think it’s gonna bake with all that heat. That paint your using is good stuff though. Your prep work is what matters on all things.

Gunmetal gray. It gives a nice transition from the shiny aluminum parts to the red bay, and as the aluminum parts dull over time itll match

Jimmy you should get a orbital sander and sand just the very top of the lettering on the valve cover enough to remove the paint so it has the aluminum look on the letters

For valve cover color, like any part on the car, If I want it to stand out I use the color contrast wheel. Using apposing colors on the color wheel makes both colors look more vivid(think van Gogh). Red car/Green valve cover. Lots of interesting green paint codes, Grabber Green, Sublime, Dodge viper or 70s lamborghinni green. A british racing green would be nice and understated. but Red is never a bad choice. Add flake, pearl, oil slick! so many options!
@jbabbsgarage12254 жыл бұрын
Heck yea. Lookin good man for real. The wrinkle red valve cover would be pretty sick though dude. Goes along the theme of it too I think. Pretty iconic color for the honda really. You could go like spoon yellow or blue too. That be pretty wild lol
@slimer2404 жыл бұрын
Before you guys take the car to the track you may want to build a jig for making the custom mounting points for the rear suspension incase you have to start cutting up another civic you'll have the basic dimensions to go off and you can just mark it and cut..
@FelipeBindo4 жыл бұрын
for the valve cover, since the engine bay is going to be red, maybe blue like the spoon calipers, or yellow from spoon two, didnt use any spoon part, but will merge pretty good

Rust-oleum High Professional enamel black is good stuff btw most spry paint holds heat up to 1000 degrees but if you engine is getting past 300-400 there’s problems But I use normal spry paint on brake calipers and valve covers- blocks all the time

Valve cover color idea, cherry metallic red with a gloss enamel coating on it it will make the engine bay pop a little bit with the bright aluminum parts and the block being black. The red of the car will make it pop a little more
@autumntree39994 жыл бұрын
Black lettering, and or bare metal lettering. The bare metal would match the aluminium parts and make the whole engine bay pop a little more and be a little more satisfying to the eyes.

Polished valve cover. Black and silver engine in the red bay would look clean and not so "cheap" as some bright unmatching colour. Except Teal or bluish mint green goes with the red fine 😁
@ironpony424 жыл бұрын
Paint the valve cover a non metallic grey, like the Destroyer Grey Dodge Challenger - It's not black so it won't disappear, it's not red so it doesn't over do the red under the hood already, and it's simple and will fit in. Or hydro dip it some crazy pattern. I know you're a Nissan guy, but I'd like to see what you'd do with a '89-'91 RX7.
