The Nitecore E4K is an EDC flashlight with a max output of 4400 lumens and a max throw of 211 meters! 4 individually controlled Cree LED's. An aero grade aluminum body with a military-grade hard-anodized finish. Impact-resistant up to 1 meter and is IP68 water and dust resistant. More from the Nitecore website:
Equipped with 4 x CREE XP-L2 V6 LEDs with a lifespan of 50,000 hours, the NITECORE E4K is able to emit a blazing output of 4,400 lumens from a palm sized body with a max peak beam intensity of 11,100cd and a max throw of 211 meters, ideal for EDC (Everyday Carry), trekking, camping and more. The independently controlled quadruple LEDs are powered by a constant current circuit to provide a durable usage with guaranteed safety.
The ultra compact and lightweight body of the E4K provides convenient and flexible usage and is constructed with a CNC machined unibody design, featuring lightweight, solidity and excellent heat dissipation. The anti-skid knurling is ideal for long term carry or operation. The cooling fins are designed to reduce weight and enable quick heat dissipation. The tail stand capability offers hands-free operation to be placed on a flat surface.
With the NL2150HPR battery (5,000mAh) included, the E4K is recommended to be powered by 1 x 21700 battery (discharge current over 15A) while compatible with 2 x CR123 / RCR123 batteries. It provides 700 hours of ultra-long runtime for a consistent usage of 30 days on ULTRALOW. The integrated ATR technology regulates the output of the E4K according to the working condition and ambient environment to maintain optimal performance.
Specially designed for outdoor applications, the one-hand operable side switch of the E4K has a wear proof silicone cover which is friendly for glove users. With 5 brightness levels, 3 special modes, and dual user modes available to offer direct access to TURBO/STROBE, it serves as your best lighting tool for multiple scenarios.
The patented power indicator can easily inform you of the power level. The included two-way clip also enables additional carrying ways to be clipped in the pocket, the backpack or the belt.

I have read through a lot of the comments and saw a lot of complaining about the turbo runtime of 20 seconds. If I am out walking the dog at night, and I see something unknown, and I turn a light onto turbo in the objects direction, I can usually identify said object (dog, bush, person) within 2 seconds. For me an ultra bright "flash" mode that only lasted 5 seconds would still be useful. If its not useful to you that's fine does not mean they should limit the flashlight to 1000 lumens or whatever it can sustain for an hour.

Great review. I like the fact that the charging port is on the battery, inside the flashlight. You give up a little charging convenience, but you get better water resistance.

Brilliant, Nitecore gives the weight without the battery, or clip attached. Fine, take off the clip. But honestly who the hell is going to carry this or ANY light without the battery in it? No one, that's who.

You just can't make an EDC flashlight using larger cells. If I clip a flashlight of that diameter to my front/side pocket and keep a knife clipped inside the opposite pocket, that makes an unacceptably "wide load" that gets caught on things. Shoving it into a back pocket makes it hard to sit, and means that the pocket can't be used to carry other stuff or else it can fall out easily. A flashlight that uses a single 18650 cell is as big as I'd want in a front pocket, and for EDC I'd prefer if it's riding in the pocket, not on the side edge. And that means going for RCR123.

Surefire, EagTac, and even Fenix are all higher quality than Nitecore. Don't get it twisted though...Nitecore can make some good shit. For example I have a modified TM36 that has about 1.5 kilometers of throw (which was and may still be a world record) but I also had a TM26GT that just quit on me, and that was one of my favorite lamps.

The UI is far too complex for my tastes, as most are. Cramming a bunch of logic into the switch and tail cap does not make it easier to use when it counts. The simple, one-handed operation of the Fenix PD40R V2 suits a simpleton like myself much better.

I have the the really short run time on Turbo on the HC35 it's pretty pointless really, you may say also find there's not actually stepping down to High it stepping down to medium. to be honest they can boast as many lumens as they want but when you get the the light output you're paying for for like 20 to 30 seconds that's really not good enough, it's just a marketing gimmick it seems more and more Nightcore torches or flashlights if you will all about gimmicks rather than about something which is actually functional and useful real shame because I got the HC33 as well and that's actually really quite good.

"It still has that tight hotspot?" What crack are you on man... there is NO hotspot. 11,000 Candela is nothing. Its just a ton of flood with no real intensity. With 4K lumens to work with they should give you at least 30K Candela to work with... or at least make different heads one for spot and one for flood and one hybrid.

I like some of the unique features of the light. But it seems marketed toward the lumen hungry crowd. I wish the light had deeper reflectors that would give a bit more throw while maintaining a good amount flood. I carry the e18r from fenix, only 750 lumens but the reflector really maximizes those 750 lumens!

These small high powered lights just don't have the thermal capacity to sustain max output for very long. Also on the Nitecore site it doesn't show how to order an extra charging cable? Mine should have charged by now but it's been on a USB power source plugged into a 110 socket? Do I have a bad battery?

So it seems this really is about a 1k lumen light. If the 4k level is really only usable for 20 sec or so at a time that's not terribly useful IMHO. (I mean that mode, not the light overall) This seems to be a common issue with many high output small form factor lights. They claim big numbers but when you read the fine print or watch a thorough review (thanks BTW!) you find out these impressive numbers are really only available with special batteries and/or for brief periods due to battery limitations or heat limitations. My current EDC is a ThruNite Archer 2A V3. Yes, it is "only" 500 lumens max, but it can actually run at max for extended periods of time. Well, a few minutes at a time anyway is the most I've personally needed and used it on max. Most of the time I have it on low/medium (17/75 lumens) walking the dog etc. But the times I've wanted/used max output I've needed it for 5 or 10 minutes at a time. I'm not really griping against this Nitecore - looks like a great light. I'll ask here though, are there any over 1k lights (preferably throwers or modest throwers) that are really usable at their max output and not in full-on searchlight form factor? I also have a ThruNite TN4A HI that works well but honestly due to it's girth I don't carry/use it as much as I thought I would. Just so you don't think I'm a ThruNite salesman or AA battery only guy I also have and really like a Fenix PD35 (18650 powered) and a Fenix TK35 I'm less enamored with. The issue with the TK35 is that at the highest output it is really only usable for a minute or two. Then something happens, either it has pulled the batteries down enough (dual 18650s) or heated enough that it limits - only it shuts off, it doesn't step down gracefully (the PD35 does). You have to turn it back on and rapidly toggle to a lower mode - extremely frustrating. You'll note though all of these are right around the 1k lumen mark. Still looking for that 2k or more lumen light, preferably with 18650 batteries, before I step up from my current crop of 1k lights... Thanks for the nice review!

23 or 26 seconds of max lumens :))) Is there before it starts "ramping down" or "stepping down"? :) Even if that's when the lumens begin to drop that's still too little time. \\ Moral of the story? Don't focus on "max lumens". ....better to focus on useable lumens numbers/spacing and runtimes. Does the lgiht have the UI we want? (e.g. Fenix doesn't have a firefly mode on their lights nor do they have 2-clicks for instant Turbo...forcing you to cycle through Turbo everytime you want L or M again. Bad for your eyes at night....And Fenix lights are expensive0.

Despite the fact this very review is rather made diligently, to the product itself of course. The staff in focus isn't that great in practice, unless you're finding it pleasant to get yourself blinded with an occasionally caught light been stricken at your very eyes, the lighter is yes carrying a truthfully rather of enormous power lumen-abilities. So if you are about to scary away your garden moles or making your neighbors hate you, go ahead, light this 'best up'. Everything else is a mere disappointment. This praised holster, is overly tight and generally insecure with its very easy to unstrap pathetic velcro. Operation is cumbersome, thus I found myself in an utmost uncomfy position when it just has failed to light up once I needed it terminally upon the stairs in the dark and rainy. You just need just keep up desperately groping at the damn button until it finally starts. Will keep posted as the story of disarraying progresses and for certain will share out more on my channel.

I have one and I love it. The only flaw in, my opinion, is there is no tether mount in the tail cap. Good review.

Not a fan of the UI. Like the large button. The thrunite T1 has a perfect UI imo. Press n hold moonlight mode. Single click whatever you set it to. Double click turbo and triple click strobe. Simple. Holding down after one click ramps up and down and will remember that level. So easy to use. Hold down 3 seconds for lock out mode. Not my ideal tactical light but a great small light and 18340 much better capacity than the 123s.

That sounds very much like the Olight UI with a side button.

Unless you like people coming up to you and telling you, your light is on in your pocket or you like a warm pocket from the light being on all the time or you like dead batteries all the time I would stay away from the flashlight. It’s a beautiful little piece and it’s very bright, but that damn button keeps getting press in your pocket. If you use a holder on your belt, it still gets pressed if you get in your car and put on the seatbelt things like that it’s just really frustrating.

Yeah man they came out with the new model 2000 lumens but you know what this is an older video but I think you got a great voice speaking voice for doing these videos you're very precise and on point thank you for sharing it man ordering one the upgrade I love the button on it that's what I like the most because at night time I could feel that button a lot of these flashlights have a smooth button at night time you can't see it it's a pain in the ass from going around to try to find the button because you always end up pushing the little rubber cover 😂😂😂😂😂

Remember when 1000 lumen lights were top of the line? Now you can get a good one for 25 bucks. The price for these will come down too, and that's when I might buy one. Or not, because I can't see a situation where I would ever need a 4K light.

I'm afraid 20 seconds on turbo is just useless, and then it drops all the way down to only 1050...

Only meant for temporary use I guess. Just that momentary burst of 4400 lumens.

It should have a variable temperature setting for the first step down from turbo to high. Twenty seconds is too short. Maybe step down at 105 degrees -or - keep it as is is and step down to 2k lumens for a longer period and then step down to high at 1050 lumens. I think a such a short turbo output is gimmicky.

I agree. It’s too much of a drop down from 4400 to 1050. A middle ground of 2200 would’ve been nice.

I have a few Nitecores. HC65 headlamp, EC23 every day, and an EC4S. I like them all for different reasons. The thing I like about the EK4 is that it's got the power of my big EC4S, but closer to the size of my EC23. One thing I do not like about my flashlights is that I'm always fumbling to find the button on them in the dark. They are small and not raised or otherwise easily distinguishable. The EK4 seems to fix this with the square bezel around a big round button. Looks like it would be much easier to locate in the dark or from a pocket/bag. I would love it if all Nitecores had a recessed button in a magnetic tailcap. Great review, I like the sleeve for using other sized batteries (all of my batteries). I might pick this one up, I like the weight and power output.

it is weak that it has max output of 4400 lumens and high mode is only 1050. Something in between these two would be nice.
