I have been carrying the EC11 for a few months and I just love it. I use the AW IMR 18350 800 mAH cells with this light. Just a couple of cautions to note. The light gets quite warm quickly when running at max output. The light may inadvertently turn on when carried in its holster. You can insert the light with the buttons facing the back corners of the holster, or you can lock it out to prevent this.

The prior post from Going Gear is spot-on D25C XP-L is insane. Crazy bright, elegant, and pocketable. Got the Ti Version and it's my favorite light out of the 12 or so that I own. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for!

What charger should I use to charge the battery for the light, it's a IMR 18350. I bought a Nitecore UM10, but I doesn't seem to work with the battery. I think the battery is too short, would it work if I stacked one battery on top of the other?

Great video! Been caught in a worm hole about EDC flashlights for a few days now hahaha. I think this may be what I'm looking for. One questions: how well does it clip to the bill of a ball cap? On a scale of 1 to ten. I do a little log hopping and can stumble down rocky banks at times. Hoping to find something that clips very securely. Also open to some hacks if the clip isn't sufficient. Thank you again!

Hey Mashall! Have been watching your videos/reviews for a few years now. Love this channel and the story behind starting your passion for this store! Amazing and inspiring to me. Definitely admire your fancy for survival and fun gear! It's nice to meet a fellow flashlight enthusiast. I believe you and "We all Juggle knives...& lights" channel are the closest I know that are obsessed with lights like us! I visit the website everyday since I'm in KS. One of my best friends lives in Ocilla, and he used to live in Marietta. I'll ask him if he's ever been through. If you have a moment, I have a few questions concerning this EA11 I purchased a couple of weeks ago, mainly a question about the batteries...>>>

Marshall, I bought EC11 from a competitor, when they first came out, and before I knew anything of Going Gear. Anyhow, since the beginning I had trouble with this light. Main problem it would not come on or go to high and sometimes cycle down and just go off.. Thought it was battery issues until I tried 3 different and same problem. This thing has 5 year warranty. Had to send in to where I bought it and they said the light engine needed to be replaced. They are sending it back to me now. I had to pay $10 dollars in shipping but they fixed under warranty. (I hope). It kind of upsets me that I hardly used this light and it failed and cost me more money for a fairly inexpensive light. I have read a lot, on internet, about nitecore products having this issue. I also have a Olight and it seems much more reliable just can't get same brightness in that size as nitecore (yet). Just thought I would let all know about my experience.

Yes I was, two from Nitecore and one from somewhere else. Same problem on light with all three.

Quick question: am I correct in thinking that since I'm mostly interested in the lowest modes, and in the red light, that I'm better of using a cr123 battery for longer runtime in these lower settings? This isn't the light I want the max distance for to be honest, even though it's nice to have the option of course...

Very expert demonstration of the effectiveness of the "lockout" function. :P Question about IMR batteries: can you use them in flashlights that won't use their full potential? I can't imagine it doing too much harm(i can't see it over-amping, amperage is generally determined by load not power source), but will the flashlights get any benefit if their outputs are designed for regular Li-Ion. Maybe longer run times, etc?
@Kamikaze-Rat9 жыл бұрын
***** ...sort of answers the question...are there any benefits to using them? will you get longer run-times, etc. vs regular batteries if the flashlight wasn't specifically made for them

Thanks for your review. I've owned this exact EA11 light for two weeks now. Purchased it brand new. LOVE this light!!! So...if you want the actual maximum capacity out of this light, what is the best IMR to use? Or AA type battery in general? The typical AA max is only 160 lumens! I've tried 2 brands of the IMR14500's. One brand IMR 14500 is slightly shorter than the other. It's a "flat top" type. The mode & functions work fine. However, it heats up way too fast...even on the mid-high settings, but again, it functions properly other than the heat. The "button top" brand I found at Radio Shack are 750mah IMR 14500 and are the ones causing the turbo function not to work until it gets to 3.7 volts. I have to drain this 750mah battery in lower modes for the turbo function to finally work? The light is said to hold-4.2volts? The other difference between them, the non button top battery is 700mah, and the button top is 750mah. Would highly value any help or suggestions. Thank you!

+Going Gear Thank you. I'll look into the efest brand. I'll check them out on the website as well.

***** can you use IMR on other brands? Or is this nitecore only?
@bryansage49479 жыл бұрын
Austin Waldo The lighting system has to be designed to draw more amps to make use of higher drain. If you have a light engineered to draw 5 amps (making a simple example). A 10 amp battery wont make any difference. The light will still draw 5. Putting these batteries into something not engineered to make use of the additional draw will only be valuable in regard to safety, not output. I think.
@NCF87109 жыл бұрын
Austin Waldo Certain lights, notably the Jetbeam RRT-01 will have a higher light output using IMR cells vs. the common ICR cells. The RRT-01 is rated at 500 lumens using the standard ICR cell. The output is noticeably higher using the IMR cell, reportedly 650 or more lumens. This is a result of the lower internal impedance of the IMR cell. The RRT-01, like the EC11 accepts the 18350 IMR cell. I have been using AW 18350 IMR cells in both lights.

Hey Marshal, I was wondering if there was an 18650 variant of these lights? In addition to being a flashlight nerd, I also vape and have a ton of 18650 imr batteries laying around.
@NCF87109 жыл бұрын
Icepick8008 You might want to look into the Nitecore EC20. It has the XM-L2 emitter and runs on one 18650 cell. It has the cell voltage readout and does most of what the EC11 can do minus the red light. It has a maximum output of 960 lumens. It is also reasonably priced.

if only they would come with a magnetic tailcap... they would be the perfect replacement for my little Olight S10 baton. I really want the red light, absolutely love that part. Have small kids too I avoid waking up, often prefer not ruining my nightvision and all that. So it'll be the choice between the red light or the magnetic tailcap. Thanks for the review.
