I don't place much credence in vendor-supplied ANSI/FL-1 run times. In fact, I often find them pretty much useless. I do a lot of battery endurance testing before I place a light into possible SAR rotation. So, if you are interested, I'll film more of these types of tests under different temperature conditions. Thank you.

I find this sort of video very useful. Whilst it is nice to see the different levels of output, it’s even more important to see what a light is like on a setting which can be held for a decent length of time. Far too often, other reviewers just want to show you the turbo level

Glad you liked it. I have several battery and rain endurance tests on the channel. I hope to continue this trend. Thank you.

Glad your not really lost, as I would miss your videos. I always have several lights around to cover specific tasks. But as a light for edc, always in your pocket, I like the edc 35. I leave for work most days at 05.30 and use it to check around as I go to the car and open and close the front gates. I live in a remote rural area and have had unwelcome guests visit at 03.00 and 04.00 in the past, so a good blinding light that can give some distance is great. Useful and informative as always, I really appreciate you taking the time and effort to make the content to which I always listen before making a purchase. Safe home. (An Irish wish on parting)

Yes, thankfully I really knew where I was at all times. I do these exercises with no map, compass, or GPS nav. This night was challenging because the clouds hid the stars. I had to work with local knowledge and landmarks along. Thank you.

Very informative vid on the runtime on high iv watched some of your vids in the past Nitecore n Fenix are my fav brand of flashlights and headlights I'll refrain from commenting on what I think of the EDC 35 let your viewers decide well done ☘️👍

Thanks. That's why I have the easy job. Hang out with the wild animals at night and run the tests. Then, let viewers make up their own minds :)

Eight months later here, but this light is on the way in transit and so I came across this video; do you know if the step downs are due to heat or battery drain? In other words, if one were to toggle between high and lower modes as needed, might the step downs be held farther out?
@L5-SAR19 күн бұрын
Step down is to avoid heat and lights do require a certain amount of power to obtain and sustain a particular output level. You can increase overall battery endurance to a degree by toggling between say Med/High and running much more in Med. Every time you switch back to high and start out at the top output level, though, it's burning battery at that top-output rate. You may arbitrage the step down but are still burning battery at a higher rate. Always a trade off :) Thank you.

love this test you do. please test Wuben x1 ant TM20k and Tm9k please.
@L5-SAR8 ай бұрын
Wuben sent me an X2 (already tested) and is talking about me testing an X3. Nothing on the X1. Nitecore seems to have no interest in me testing the TM aeries. Thank you!

Thanks!! this is just almost same runtime with EDC33… Which one can you recommend between EDC33 vs EDC35? seems to me its not really an upgrade.now curious if MH12 Pro really last 4hrs on high mode… Maybe I should look on another brand now. 👍👍

EDC33 vs 35 is very much a matter of personal preference. 33 is easier to carry, but 35 has more punch. Do you really need that? Heavier and more bulky to carry. Thank you.

What would you prefer edc33 or edc35?
@L5-SAR9 ай бұрын
I don't really tend to universally prefer one over the other. The 33 is the easier carry. If its output is suitable for your needs, then it's an easy decision. The 35 has more punch, but is a heavier and somewhat more cumbersome carry, especially as we approach the summer months. I'd likely carry it while out on a review at a location where I have no need for compass nav. for example. Thank you and good luck to you.

does the flashlight have a strobe mode

No. Nitecore is into the 'Lumen Shield' for defensive use with this series.

At what power was the test conducted?

I made that clear in the introduction - High output level.

so its far from their claimed? they claim it could last 4 hours in high modes? lol

Now, I only ran the light down to where I would no longer use it. That's different from running to complete battery depletion. And, it was during cold weather which often affect battery performance negatively. Which is, of course, why I run the field tests :)
