A set of deep gorges fashioned by the flow of water through ancient sandstone attracts thousands of visitors to the Northern Territory’s Nitmiluk National Park every year. There are numerous ways to experience the beauty of the landscape, but one of the most popular is a cruise with Indigenous-owned and operated Nitmiluk Tours.
In this video, we take you on board Nitmiluk Tours' Nit Nit Dreaming Two Gorge Cruise. Once known as Katherine Gorge, Nitmiluk is actually a series of twelve gorges. This cruise visit gorges one and two, with a short 400-metre walk in between. Along the way, we learn about the significance of the region to the traditional owners - the Jawoyn people - from our local guide.
