Muchas gracias Sensei, corte mis shinais siguiendo su video, espero tener la oportunidad de practicar con usted. Yo sigo aprendiendo con sus vídeos de Nitto. Saludos desde Perú
Do you ever get a 38 shinai and cut into a 37? Do you always cut on the handle and not on the top?

If my memory is correct, I've never use 38 to make Daito. Always using 39. But it depends on your preference. I tested to cut on the handle, on the top, half and half on top / bottom, 1/3 top and 2/3 bottom etc... to find out the best balance for me. Then I've arrived at current style of cut 39 handle side. You can try several ways to find out your best of best weight balance 😉

I don’t practice nito yet, but I made a shoto out of a broken shinai out of curiosity. I realized that it is very hard to fit the sakigawa onto the new kensen, and I can’t push it all the way into the sakigawa. Do you have any tips to fit it in? And congratulations on your 5th dan!

Thanks 😊 If you feel too tight, you can use rubber working gloves, which have a good grip to fit Sakigawa in. In addition, you can put a bit of flower powder or baby powder on the surface of between shinai and Sakigawa. Other tips are hot boiled water. Sakigawa becomes softer when it is wet by hot water. Please note, once Sakigawa dried out, even getting harder to fit it in 🤣
