I attended this convention as a vendor and it was not great. I did spend some time around Nitro as well. He was very unprofessional and made me very uncomfortable. He never made any of his staff sign any contracts either, so if any of the staff did not like any one of us, they could throw all our personal info out into the public, i.e. Addresses, full names and tax info. The person he had run the dealers den was inexperienced and very immature, they could not make a solid schedule for the den so we were all left confused. To make it worse, when we arrived thursday to set up, we were informed the den was opened so we had a chance to make money before the con was shut down. We were not in the Den, all our products were open to the public and we could have had our products stolen. So yea, that happened.

While I had no idea about all the crap that went down, it was still a very boring con. That was thanks to a severe lack of panels. I think a fight broke out on the first day. But still, I enjoyed just talking to people and that was about it. Yeah...

16 is too young for a furry con IMO. I'm assuming your father kept an eye on you, and respect to him for not letting you go alone, but there's too much obscene art and too many people into questionable activities to bring a minor. It sounds like you were lucky, but a lot of teens report inappropriate or even criminal behavior toward them by older furs.

@@DFunct905 you’re not wrong that shit happens sometimes, but there are furry conventions that are very family friendly and don’t allow any NSFW art sold and any NSFW panels are 18+ and peoples ages are checked. A lot of people under 18 go to furry conventions. But I agree a parent should go if they’re under 18. Tbh I went to an anime convention when I was 16 without a parent and I saw muuuuuch worse and had adults be creepy towards me, but not at furry conventions. Many furry cons are fine for minors as long as they’re not going to any adult parties afterwards that the convention can’t control, but that goes for any conventions. Sadly at any con there’s risks of adults being predatory to minors. Which is why it’s important for an adult to go with them.

I went to this con as an attendee (I’m a 17 year old fursuiter, and if you were there, I was the protogen volunteer in floor wars) and although he was never uncomfortable around me personally in the few friendly conversations, I worked at a vendor table with a friend helping sell con tshirts, and handled a LOT of money for the con with no contract, none of the staff knowing me personally, and nobody even asking how I old I was. I can attest to him being out fursiting with attendees rather than helping staff. I’ll miss the con itself, as I had a lot of fun and good memories there, but good lord. Nitro was a shit person and I had no idea.

VOUCH THAT FRIEND WAS ME- They were very lucky I had the integrity and ABILITY/familiarity with doing table and con staff work, to handle that stuff for them at the drop of a hat with no issue, I didn't ever INTEND for that to be what i was doing, but I ended up there! It was insane from an organizers standpoint, but helping the other attendees have a half decent time at the train wreck was super worth the extra work, from a personal experience perspective.

So I can shine some more light on how this got going. The small Ohio meet was the WWFC that I was staff at for about 2-3 years roughly guessing until I left due to abusive behaviors from the staff became too much. Nitro worked as the AV support at the YMCA camp event ran by a man named Jacob or better known as Al Cobone, he was the AV support for the entirety of the events life up until 2020. The entire time I knew him he would talk to me about how he wanted to run his own con. I was pretty stoked for him at the time, I mean who gets an opportunity to run a con. By 2018 I was fairly chummy with him, chatting or venting about WWFC based stuff happening behind the scenes. He told me that at his con he would make sure none of that would happen and that I should work at his con instead. I was tempted to join staff for him despite the con being a whopping 10-12 hour drive for me. Thats how fed up I was with the camp me and him staffed at the time and he knew it too. In late 2019 he approached me (I did stand up for the camp) and made me an offer of a free room (on him) and to be an honored guest at CCFC. He told me I could have my own featured slot to do my stand up (I was a little too ambitious at the time and thought of myself as hot shit honestly) so I was pretty excited, on top of the other panels he promised me. I wanted to famous in the fandom and I guess he saw that. I was pretty much ready to jump ship and attend his con until I found out that he had also asked Hund the Hound and Cabone, and I think a few others who were staffed at the WWFC. I declined after hearing that he had asked Hund (another staff member who had put attendees health at risk, even the night before Nitro approached me and Hunds constant verbal abuse towards staff.) Then after the WWFC had concluded for 2019, it had came out that about 3-4 grand was stolen and the camp event was in the hole. Of course I had Hund ask me for money to pay the fees again and I questioned why, he said "Idk, Nitro was in charge of the money" As it turns out, Nitro had stolen the huge amount of money to put into his own con just a few months later in January. Idk if direct action was taken because the chairman kept it underwraps while as Hund went to the Kiwi Forums. The money was never returned and from what I hear the WWFC are still reeling from the devastating blow because that money was to go back into the YMCA to pay for the event there. EDIT: So I also wanted to squeeze this in on Nitro asking literally everyone to be a guest at his con. He bothered everyone in my friend group and looking back it was an obvious scam. When I started doing my stand up, I was good sure but not amazing, good enough to have a small panel but not good enough to be an honored guest. He also would dm me and be flirtatious af after winning a fursuit from Furreality for an auction. I guess that also sweetened the pot for him when he made the offer to me since I only had that fursuit for maybe a year or so when he approached me. Take it with a grain of salt, I wanted to squeeze in my two cents and when I worked with him at the small Ohio based event.

One of my friends used to live with him so I've heard all about Nitro. I've had my own run ins with him as well. I was also one of the artists he tried to get to draw art for the con (books, merch, etc) but I said no after I found out none of the artists were going to get paid. I am on staff for a furry con in Oklahoma that Nitro was applying to DJ for.
