Master the Four Main Swimming Styles: Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Butterfly.
In this video, we will guide you through the process of mastering all four of the main swimming styles, so you can swim with confidence and ease.
First, we will cover the most popular swimming style, freestyle or front crawl. Freestyle is a fast and efficient stroke that is easy to learn. We will show you how to coordinate your arm and leg movements to propel yourself forward, and the key to keeping your body as straight as possible and keeping your head down and looking forward.
Next, we will move on to the backstroke. This stroke is perfect for beginners or for those looking for a break from the more strenuous freestyle. We will teach you how to lie on your back and kick your legs while moving your arms in a circular motion, and the key to keeping your body flat and keeping your head and shoulders above the water.
Then, we will teach you the breaststroke, which is considered one of the most challenging strokes. We will show you how to coordinate your arm and leg movements to swim in a smooth and steady motion, and the key to keeping your head down and looking forward while keeping your body in a streamlined position.
Finally, we will move on to the butterfly. This is the most advanced stroke and requires a great deal of strength and coordination. We will show you how to coordinate your arm and leg movements to swim with power and efficiency, and the key to keeping your body in a streamlined position and timing your arm and leg movements correctly.
We hope that this tutorial will help you to master the four main swimming styles, so you can swim with confidence and ease. Don't forget to like and subscribe for more swimming tutorials and tips!

You're welcome Becky! I'm so glad that you're finding our videos helpful. I highly recommend you to avoid swimming in an ocean unless you have a life jacket and someone watching you all the time. Open water swimming is done under the supervision of trained lifeguards. Even by professional triathletes. Regardless, I wish you all the best on your swim journey. The fact that you mention that it is best to breathe out your air as your turning to the side, makes a lot of sense. This is easier than trying to breathe bubbles while your face is under the water, prior to turning the face sideways out of the water and taking a breathe. I have just started swimming again at 67. Haven’t swam since I was in my teens. Thank you this was the instruction I needed. Clear and concise 🙏🇨🇦

I am a tri-athlete, prior military and a workout warrior. I crash after 50 to 150 meters. My coach instructed me to use the 4 stroke technique to breath. I adapted your 2 strokes. What a huge difference!! I did 600 meters and felt amazing. I am using your "Superman Pull and Catch". Again, huge difference. Recovery, pull and feet kicking were a bonus for me. Thank you Coach Johnny Rocket!!

From a very experienced trainer on youtube who traines olympic athlethes in Europe I learned the following (how to do 600m in opposite to sprinting) 1. Water Resistance is your enemy. 2. Gliding-Phases slow you down! Don’t stop stroking! While gliding though it feels relaxing at first, you are holding your breath!!! And the speed you lost, will make the next stroke even harder! 3. The biggest muscles are your legs! To make miles, use your legs less. Kicking hard wastes a lot of oxygen and increases!water resistance. That is *not* what you want. 4. Relax. Lay doing nothing in the water and calm down. Before you do anything, calm down! Test: If you are really *psychologically* at peace/rest, you can do 25/50 Meters with holding your breath from a break no problem. (Thats only about 30-60 f*cking seconds, right?) 5. Water is calm. Be calm like the water. Be water. Dont make a lot of waves, noise, spashing… Water runs, falls, splashes continuously. 6. Have fun! Does your own training includes games? Challenged (like how far can you go without breathing, or stroking (no joke)) 7. Don’t hurt yourself. Learn how to stroke correctly. Warm up. Correct Shoulder and Back Movement. Rest/Sleep/Eat optimized/Fast enough before training. ps learn from the best

Finally, I found a decent video with clear explanations and recommendations. I have viewed dozens of swimming videos and I have to say thank you so much. I consider myself a good swimmer before watching this video , but now, I realized that I have a lot room for improvement. ❤❤❤ . I am a petite woman in my late 50s, fit , and decided to be a great swimmer before I die 😂, I rediscovered my happy place, the water, the peace that it’s bringing me and , of course the workout. My goal is to swim 1000 m in freestyle before my 58 bday . I am not a triathlete, but I do run, cycle 🔁 and swim, I just keep moving….. daily… anyway thank you 🙏 again..

Your videos are absolutely amazing. I'm currently having lessons and the last for me to learn is the butterfly. I tried this for the first time a couple of days ago which to be fair I did ok, however just practicing the movement in your technique in my kitchen (lol) I can see how much easier that is. Can't wait to try it next time I go, and really master the other strokes with your video tutorials. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. I've subscribed because you're the best on here.

Thank you so much for your kind words and support! I'm thrilled to hear that you find my videos helpful in your swimming journey, and that you're making progress with your lessons. The butterfly stroke can be challenging to learn, but with practice and a solid technique, you'll be able to master it in no time. It's great that you're practicing the movement in your kitchen - every little bit helps! Visualizing and practicing the technique outside of the pool can help you understand the mechanics of the stroke and build muscle memory, which can make it easier to execute in the water. I'm honored that you've subscribed to my channel, and I look forward to helping you improve your skills in all of the swimming strokes. Remember to keep practicing, stay patient, and have fun with it! If you have any questions or suggestions for future videos, please don't hesitate to let me know. I’m so glad that I found you tutorials. I didn’t learn to swim until my late 20’s after many bad experiences in lakes/pools. Also my brother drowned in a rip-current so I was very afraid of the water. It’s been about 34 years since I swam laps in a pool and I’m trying to get back to it despite some fear. Agree with @manjuljohn 100%. @rocket swimming, I know this is a swimming channel. Can you also talk about other workout (such as weight training) that swimmers do? Besides the technique, the overall physical condition must be important for swimming too. I also see some people not in shape (not body shaming in any way) can swim well (as in long distance). How does Johnny gets such a lean/fit body?
@RocketSwimming
@RocketSwimming Жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching our latest video on how to swim and for your comment. We also agree with @manjuljohn that besides the technique, the overall physical condition is important for swimming. Swimmers often do other types of workouts such as weight training, to build strength and endurance. Weight training helps swimmers to increase muscle mass and power, which is essential for swimming. It can also help to reduce the risk of injury. About Jonny's lean/fit body transformation. It's the result of very strict diet, fasting, hundreds of swim sessions a month, strength training & dedication. It takes a lot of discipline to achieve such transformation. I apologize that we haven't covered other workout in details in our channel yet. But we have a lot of upcoming plans for new videos, and we'll definitely keep your feedback in mind when planning our content. Regarding schedule, Jonny is currently really busy with swimming instruction sessions, but we'll try our best to post new content as often as we can. Thank you again for your support and for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful comment. We appreciate your feedback and will continue to work hard to provide you with informative and useful content. - Niraj (CDO)

I'm 45 and just starting to learn swimming (a friend has been helping out at an LA Fitness pool in Houston). At this point I have gotten cmfortable with water and I can say I don't have the fear to be alone in a pool. I can backstroke from one end to another no problem because the head is always above water. But I struggle with breast stroke because I am yet to master the technique of breathing out underwater and breathing in at the surface. Hopefully with practice. What is your advice for water in ears. I have apparently unique ear canals, catching water/sweat (even in spin class) What to do in the water?😊
@RocketSwimming
@RocketSwimming Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question! My best advice would be to use ear plugs or a swim cap to keep water out of your ears while you're in the water. If you're still experiencing issues with water or sweat getting into your ears, I would recommend consulting with a doctor or ear specialist for further advice. They may be able to offer additional solutions or treatments that are specific to your unique ear canals. I hope this helps!

I'm absolutely petrified of the water I've done level 1 beginner swimming lessons and cannot get a grip of freestyle, I just keep sinking to the side when I move my arms how can I fix this? Also cannot hold myself up in that water when stationary I had a bad experience when learning and went straight under the water which is the reason why I'm terrified of swimming

It sounds like you've had a tough time, but it's great that you're still trying. Here are a few tips: Body Position: Keep your body flat and streamlined. Imagine you're a plank floating on water. Kicking: Engage in a steady flutter kick to help keep your legs up. Breathing: Practice side breathing with a kickboard to build confidence. Relaxation: Stay relaxed and breathe steadily; tension can cause you to sink. Remember, it's okay to take things slowly. Practice and patience are key. Good luck!

It's totally fine if your arm pull and leg kick happen at the same time or close together. As a beginner, it's common to have a bit of overlap between them. Just focus on keeping your movements smooth and rhythmic, letting your arms and legs work together. With practice, you'll get better at timing them. Keep it up and enjoy swimming! 🏊‍♂️😊

I'm struggling to breathe while swimming
@RocketSwimming
@RocketSwimming Жыл бұрын
Breathing while swimming can be a bit tricky at first, but with practice, it can become second nature. Here are a few tips that may help you improve your breathing technique: 1: Make sure to exhale before taking a breath. This will help you empty your lungs and make room for fresh air. 2: Timing your breathing with your strokes can also be helpful. Try taking a breath when your arm enters the water, and exhaling when it exits. 3: Keep your head and neck in a neutral position while swimming. Tilting your head too far to the side can make it difficult to breathe. 4: Try to relax your whole body while swimming, this will help you to breathe more comfortably. 5: Focus on your breathing, try to take deep and slow breaths, this will help you to take in more oxygen and reduce the feeling of struggling. 6: If you're still having trouble breathing, try swimming with a snorkel or a kickboard. This will help you to focus on your breathing without having to worry about your strokes. 7: Lastly, Remember to practice, it takes time and patience to master your breathing. Practicing regularly will help you to build up your lung capacity and improve your breathing technique. You can also send your video to us for evaluation. You can find our contact details on our website or channels about page. - Niraj (CDO)

Thank you for the great content! Any tips on overcoming an irrational fear of water? I’m taking lessons once a week but my fear is holding me back. I get moments of such panic that I can’t focus on proper technique and then start floundering around in the water. It’s incredibly frustrating.

Thanks for reaching out and for your support of our channel! I totally understand how frustrating it can be to deal with an irrational fear of water while trying to learn how to swim. It can really throw off your focus and make it difficult to make progress. Here are a few tips that might help you overcome your fear: 1: Take it slow: It's important to go at your own pace when it comes to overcoming a fear of water. Don't push yourself too hard too fast. Instead, start with small steps like putting your face in the water or blowing bubbles. 2: Practice relaxation techniques: When you start to feel panicked in the water, try taking slow, deep breaths and focusing on relaxing your muscles. 3: Get comfortable with buoyancy: Buoyancy is what keeps us afloat in the water. Try practicing floating on your back or stomach with a flotation device until you feel comfortable. 4: Seek help from a professional: If you're really struggling with your fear of water, it might be helpful to seek out the help of a professional swimming instructor or therapist who specializes in working with people who have a fear of water. Remember, everyone learns at their own pace, and it's totally okay to take your time. Don't be too hard on yourself and keep practicing. You got this!

Recently since this season I pity those who dis-stress themselves into taking turn after turn without rest(reoxygenation) and swimming as fast as they can all the time as if they are in a competition for one hour and really hurt themselves! If it doesn’t hurt afterwards you didn’t train? R E A L L Y S T U P E ! Which ‘kid’ wants to repeat something that made it have pain????? About delayed breathing I think I understand why trainers (who are sometimes incredibly stupid, as we all are sometimes) want you to do more strokes then breathing. The brain has a limited bandwith!!!!!! So focus on the stroke… The latter IMHO is rather not optimal, because by our basic instincts we don’t *survive* in the water as a species by swimming a few seconds faster for only a very short interval, but by being able to intake oxygen comfortly and *confidently* (which in effect lets us do more ‘work’. …and feel way better 😉).
@RocketSwimming
@RocketSwimming Жыл бұрын
Delayed breathing can help focus on stroke mechanics, but it's also important to find a comfortable rhythm that allows for efficient oxygen intake. Thanks for sharing your insights!

@@RocketSwimming thanks bro, can you give me some general tips on breathing? Should I fully empty my lungs before taking a breath? I just don't know the right procedure. I'd really appreciate it if you could help me out here 🙏🏻
@RocketSwimming
@RocketSwimming 5 ай бұрын
@@babackd.6485 It sounds like you're already on the right track with your breathing technique. To answer your question, it's generally a good idea to exhale fully before taking a breath while swimming. This helps ensure that you have enough space in your lungs to take in a good amount of fresh air when you do breathe. As for your tempo, try to find a comfortable rhythm that allows you to exhale fully and inhale deeply without feeling too out of breath. It might take some practice to find the right balance, but with time and patience, you'll get there! Also, remember to stay relaxed and calm while swimming. Tension in your body can affect your breathing and make you feel more fatigued. So focus on staying loose and smooth in the water. Keep up the great work, and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any more questions!
