This is really interesting, even on the more powerful of the 3 modes and avoiding dropping below 15%, this still can travel 85km with a decent speed. This would be more than enough for most cities, which is where scooters are designed to be. Not the cheapest scooter to buy, but would be really cheap to run. It is great to see more choices of ways to get around!

I'm very excited about this scooter. The speed and range puts it into serious car replacement territory for me, while most affordable electric scooters feel much more comparable to ebikes. Would love to see these take off in the US.

@@1miltond I am not sure where you got $9,000 USD from. I am looking at a dealer website right now and it shows the NIU NGT at $4,500 USD, or half of what you saw. vespamotorsport.com/san-diego-scooters/niu-ngt/ I know nothing about this dealer, other than that it also sells Vespa. I was just looking for a US dealer so I could see the price.

As an apartment dweller I've never been tempted to own an EV because of the lack of home charging infrastructure. Being able to take the batteries inside is a huge plus. This looks very tempting.

i've been riding motorcycles for over 40 years, and in my (lengthy - meaning old, lol) experience, lane splitting is actually safer for 2 wheelers when practiced responsibly: it gets you out of the cage parade so you don't have to deal with the oblivious cage pilots who are not paying attention! everytime i get on my bike someone tries to kill me - usually within a mile of my house. i don't even bother getting pissed off anymore. split the lane, get out in front AND STAY THERE!

Great review thank you! Having 9000km on my NQi already. Half from Berlin, half from Barcelona. It's definitely a more fitting for Southern Europe or generally warm climate. On a wet, slippery roads covered with leaves, or frozen surfaces it's becoming pretty unstable.

Lane sharing saves lives. Using that space between cars allows the rider to be in a protected space instead of hanging out there waiting to be struck from the rear. Many more riders are injured or killed by that than from filtering or lane splitting/sharing. That's why it is legal in many states.

In Taiwan, scooters are supposed to go to the front to stay in a box dedicated to motorcycles and scooters to wait for green light. And lane splitting is the only way to make it possible. This help makes the the traffic move quicker as scooters move faster than cars the first few seconds at starting up.

Excellent job on the review! We've been test riding the NIU NQi GT (NGT) out of our electric scooter store (Motor Pony Electric) in Vancouver, Canada for the past month and it has been amazing! Our city is really hilly and this is the 1st scooter that we have tried that can truly handle the hills and keep up to traffic. It looks good, is well made, thoughtful functional design and smart system. Considering what you get for the price, it is great value.

They are nice but be mindful of a few issues. Front forks bend and leak easy. Brake lever has a sensor that cuts throttle. When that has a malfunction it can lead to unsafe surging of power that can be really hazardous on slick roads or in corners. Last major one is sometimes when you take the bat out and it it back in the computer will bug. That really sucks when in a hurry and ya gotta pull the battery and use the wall charger to reset. The true last issue is common to a lot of rides, stock tires are hard and do have traction issues.

The eco mode went to 29mph and normal was only 47mph on the flat. So no gains really, except.... when the battery got low it went to eco mode of 29mph. Which I felt was much safer. The batteries have a minimum life of 5 years, and they are under warranty for 2 years. However, that does not mean that after 5 years, the batteries die, they simply lose their ability to charge to 100%. You might only be able to charge to 90% after 5 years, for example. It terms of the cost, I estimate between 2500$ and 3000$ Canadian. A bit less in USD. Hope this helps.

That was a super well presented and produced review video of what looks like a really good scooter. And a great tourism promo to visit Israel too. Big smile here. I still don't favour electric cars but electric scooters like this are a boon to local urban travel and I want one.

5:17 How the hell are you moving your camera like that when doing a line splitting ?

Lane splitting is not only convenient and legal in most of the world but it actually keeps the motorcyclist safer and reduces traffic because you’re not taking up a spot on the road that a car could be in.

Do you still own the scooter? If so, would you recommend buying a used one?

... sehr sehr gutes Video - because of the scooter review AND because of the viewed locations (I would have watched you drive around for a while longer !) 👍 (at 5:22 - how did you get this so cool done camera moving - the camera somehow seemed to overtake you ?!?👍)

I have a standard Niu Uqi Pro. In the same black and red colours, I love it! I just wish it had slightly faster top speed and more range. I'm tempted on maybe upgrading to the Uqi GT Pro next year.. 🤔
