The tires are bigger than the KQi3 Max. 10.5” vs 9.5” but both have the same width, 2.5”. Also, AFAIK the max speed is 23.6 mph (38 kmh), not 25 mph but would be nice if true. The batteries are the same, 48V 13a. I hope they made it less difficult to access the internals under the “hood”, because with the Max/Pro seems like a tedious process which is even needed to change the rear tire! I placed the pre-order the same day it went on sale and can’t wait to ride it! It would be perfect if they add a power limiter in watts and/or a power cruise control via firmware for a steady load on the battery when cruising at a variable speed. The most efficient riding mode.

A more suitable merge would be Rad Power with Apollo since Rad has the largest eBike store and customer base network in the USA. NIU is from China Rad is based in Seattle, WA. E-Scooters and E-Bikes are essentially the same.
@alexp937910 ай бұрын
I also prefer the thumb throttle but the twist handle is not that bad either. Ultimately there are cheap after market thumb throttles braces that can be easily mounted on the existing twist throttle or be replaced completely with a real one. This is just a matter of personal preference but the excuse the NIU sales representative gave is lame. Other manufacturers of ebikes and scooter have fully functional thumb throttles, no problem, like the Apollo Go. When I get mine 300X I’d probably change the grip handles to a beefier ones, flip the brake levers left-right, move the 4 button controller to the left hand (as ESG noted in the Max review) and if it is posible, install a proper $15 thumb throttle.

From my experience suspension works on bigger bumps. It is good for traction. It does not work on small bumps like cobblestone and rough terran. Bumbs are too close together and suspension does not react that fast. Only thing that works on cobblestone are fat tires. But not a single scooter manufacturer is willing to put those old fat Razor scooters tires on newly built commuter scooters. So on most surfaces, where riding is really uncomfortable, scooter suspension is uselless, and it requires a lot of maintanance.
@alexp937910 ай бұрын
All the NIU bigger scooters have front fork hydraulic suspension. This is nothing new for them. I’m pretty sure NIU knows what they are doing. But the ultimate judge on that would be users confort level. Together with the bigger 10.5” x 2.5” tires more likely it will be comfortable enough.

Just learned about NIU's parts availability and repair policies.💩 Their scooters sure have a poor repairability scores which potential buyers should know about. The 3 major components, Battery, Motor and Controller which are proprietary can't be found anywhere else other than NIU. They won't sell those parts to the user or even repair shops! Eventually, any of those parts need replacement so the only option is to ship the scooter to their repair center, be without the scooter for several weeks and pay as much as as new scooter! Essentially, this make NIU scooters disposable items, hence NOT RECOMENDED. Not even Apple gets to be so exclusive with their OEM parts and now they even sell repair kits to their smartphone customers! [Right to Repair] Other scooters have generic or OEM parts that can be purchase directly from the manufacturer or anywhere else. Go for those instead.

The Go seems better in many specs except the 9” tires, it doesn’t have a charging limiter and is $300 more right now. The KQi300X also has a longer 2year warranty and range. So I’d say both are competitive in this class.
@chaxologist202410 ай бұрын
@@alexp9379 The 9 inch tires won't make much of a world of difference compared to 10 inch tires in terms of performance and safety as much as the ease of storage and portability that fits with the Go's frame. Its the suspension that really does the trick in dampening rough road conditions when both sizes are pneumatic tires. One can simply extend the Go's warranty to 2 years with just under $200 extra which covers battery defects or deteriorations within that time period. I'd still admit that the Kqi300X would be much more reliable than the Max G2 with the non-hydraulic suspension because the latter is susceptible to failure and leakage.
@matthewmanzi950410 ай бұрын
To me the Go looks the better package. I’m not worried about the 9 inch tires vs 10 inch, especially with the great travel of their front and rear suspension. Real world range should be about the same, give or take a few miles as the niu has about 9 percent larger battery but not as good of regen braking. power and speed is definitely better in the go and subjectively the go looks nicer. The new Niu looks like a nice option for many though.

After putting more than 100 miles on the 300X I want to bring some issues to your attention and the upcoming review, hoping NIU fix them. 1. The 300X is a good scooter but the way riding modes are indicated is terrible and unsafe, it drives me nuts! Since the Dynamic riding mode has no explicit, dedicated icon on the dashboard, that mode is indicated by alternating, flashing the E-Save mode and Sport Mode. As a consequence, the rider doesn't know in what mode the scooter is at with a quick glance when driving, you need to stare at the dashboard for few seconds to asses the current mode (unsafe). A possible easy firmware solution would be to borrow the Pedestrian icon to show Dynamic mode and show Pedestrian with its icon + E-Save icon on. Another issue is that Dynamic mode is deactivated after a power cycle, it doesn't remember it. 2. The twist throttle has a dead zone at the first 1/3 of rotation and then acceleration happens abruptly in a narrow range, at the slightest twist, even in Chill acceleration mode, this makes for a unpleasant riding experience plus drains the battery faster in what is otherwise a well rounded package. Other scooters at this level have better acceleration control/customization. 3. A truly regrettable omission which would have made a ton of difference in better riding quality, convenience and safety is the lack of 2 dedicated buttons, which are already there, but disabled!. One for Cruise Control and the other to toggle Riding Modes, just like the Segway P65 has. Unfortunately, this one has no fix but wanted to mention it since is so critical and disappointing to me. Gosh! NIU was so close to make the best Scooter under $1K but missed by small but consequential details... I'm looking forward to watch your detailed review and expert opinions. Keep the good work folks, you guys rock !
