I think new Niv is a cool and fun card. Actually, I make a list with him but I'm using only 2-colored cards. No colorless, no monocolor... Only 2-color ones. That's the funny part, I guess. I really liked your idea of the Aristocrats part of the deck. Great job. P.D. You could consider the Borderpost artifacts for ramp/mana fix.

If there was ever a deck for pillar of paruns in the mana base this would be it. I love Niv and this might be the first 5 color deck I try to build. Thanks for all the ideas!

We left it out in this case just because of how good the fetchlands are at mana fixing, but it might be good enough even with 8 blanks!

Another non-multicolor card that could be included in this deck is Dragon Arch. Right now I have a Dragon Arch in my Dromar, the Banisher deck that has a multicolor theme with a focus on creature ETB's and it's great.
@NitpickingNerds5 жыл бұрын
It's not a bad card, but this particular deck isn't really looking to cheat big fat creatures into play, and is more reliant on small utility creatures. With a different build of Niv-Mizzet Reborn I could see that card being a strong engine,
@crovax13755 жыл бұрын
@@NitpickingNerds I do agree that having bigger creatures does make the payout more worthwhile. Currently one of the best plays that my Dromar deck has is to drop a Magister Sphinx into play at instant speed

Love the deck! I think your tech would do better to focus more on the deck and maybe cut some of the banter; it gets a little distracting where you guys might have more professional description of the deck and breaking down of the intricacies of the playstyle.

Okay, I've watched this twice now and I'm a little confused on how you're supposed to win or what the win con is and how you're supposed to be flickering every creature, flickering is mentioned a lot as if every creature has the ability to be flickered several times. Looking through the deck list, I don't see too many ways to flicker your creatures. Momentary Blink, Legion's Landing, Turn to Mist and Mistmeadow Witch - am I missing something? And then I'm confused why we're trying to sacrifice our creatures with Cruel Celebrant and Cartel Aristocrat - is sacrificing our creatures for a couple of damage really worth it? Seems like a waste of a creature slot on both of these, especially if we're trying to flicker them? As for the big X spells, Debt to the Debtless and Cut/Ribbons, is the idea behind these strictly late game? Seems a bit counter intuitive to rely on X spells in a non ramp/landfall deck. Any clarification would be great, thanks guys!
@NitpickingNerds5 жыл бұрын
So when we say "flicker," we could have clarified a little better; there's other ways to squeeze extra ETB triggers out of our creatures like Altered Ego, Dack's Duplicate, Reborn Hope, and Time Wipe, we just used flicker as sort of a combination of all that. This deck has a lot of things going on, but a common theme among a lot of our cards is that they can deal damage over time to opponents or get residual extra damage, so the two "blood artist" creatures serve a little bit as board wipe insurance and if we happen to draw (or tutor) Cartel Aristocrat or Varolz, the Scar-Striped then we can potentially finish people off. This deck also does a little bit of sampling of possible more focused archetypes since Niv-Mizzet is so open, we don't really do that with any of our other decks but we thought this deck should have it. For example there's a few other flicker effects and clone effects that could go in here if someone wanted to focus more on that. Finally, the X spell finishers help deal those last points of damage that your ETB damage dudes have started, while being versatile since Cut is a removal spell first, and Expansion can simply copy a spell if you need it. The only devoted X spell fireball effect would be Debt, which can't be cast for like thirty or anything, but if all goes according to plan we hopefully can cast it for around 10! Hopefully this helped clear some things up or at least provide a portal into our deckbuilding minds!

@@NitpickingNerds Thank you! That does help make the idea behind some of the cards and the mechanics of the deck more clear. I see why you want Cruel Celebrant for that little bit of damage. I think there's a few cards worth switching out which I'll do in my build. Appreciate the response and the video, definitely gave me the itch to build this bad boy.
