Can you please take a look at the Astral set in a video? It was built for the 1997 Magic PC game, and consists of 12 cards that mostly require computer assistance to play. They're pretty interesting, and would make an interesting video, since I'm willing to bet most people don't know about them.

@@thesamuraiman Having never played Arena, I can't say for sure. But let me give you an example of my favorite card. Whimsy costs XXU and is a sorcery that plays X random effects at instant speed. That is, it will pick any effect - instants, interrupts (which were still a distinct thing at the time), and activated abilities - randomly X times at random and cast them. Another cool one is Aswan Jaguar. When it comes into play, it randomly chooses a creature type in your opponent's library, and then has the ability to bury creatures of that type.

@@SerathDarklands Magic Arena broke away from the precedent that paper/online magic stay consistent. A new supplemental set, called “Historic Jumpstart Horizons” added cards with effects that simply wouldn’t work on paper- historic is an arena only format, but before this set it was technically possible to play it on paper. I have been playing magic for a decent bit of time now, and that set is older than me but I haven’t heard of it. It’s interesting because it proves that WOTC has definitely come across the online only card debate many times before.

@@SerathDarklands May I also add that the cards that didn’t function like normal magic cards (altering cards in your hand or other zones, permanent effects, randomness) was and is extremely unpopular. It makes magic feel not like magic. I share that opinion.

It's hard to deny the sheer power that can come from turning 33, let alone the power that the 3 mana 3/3 can provide. Legally, Nizzahon could probably be considered Vintage once he turns 33, so in honour of that, we should all rally for "Top 10 Vintage Cards (Minus Power 9!)" And happy birthday in advance!

Goblin Chainwhirler was also used in red/black decks. That triple red mana cost isn't as prohibitive as you think! Also, I seem to recall it warping standard by making X/1's unplayable.

I mean, they were technically RB decks, but they ran 14 Mountains. Obviously you can play it in a BR deck with a small amount of B. Black was only in the deck for a few cards.

I'm hoping we'll see Top 10 Werewolves and Top 10 Vampires updated this October during the Halloween specials. At first I wasn't sure about vampires since Vow doesn't drop till November, but it would still be nice to have a video like "here's the state of vampires before Vow". I guess you could also do "Top 10 Vampires from Innistrad" and "Top 10 Vampires from Zendikar". "Top 10 scariest card arts" could also be good.

Unfortunately, I've done Vampires recently enough that a redo isn't warranted. And, while I haven't done werewolves in a long time, the list hasn't changed at all because we basically only seem them on Innistrad!

More recently, I've enjoyed Aegar, the Freezing Flame. A Red/Blue Wizard deck has been my main. After checking a short list, Baron Von Count from Unstable is hilarious in pulling off.

Personally, my favorite 3 mana 3/3 is Crystalline Giant. It's so satisfying when it comes down and immediately gets a hexproof counter, then just becomes a bigger and bigger problem for your opponent every turn.

Mayhem devil triggers on opponents sacrifices, unlike you mentioned, which makes it a lot better.

You mentioned Hostoric, which reminded me of something that I'm curious of your opinion on: Jumpstart Historic. I'm personally not a fan of digitally exclusive card pools (nor am I a fan of limited print run singles with exclusive mechanics, i.e. Rick), but I was wondering how that might impact and effect your scoring system for Historic as a format because it will have cards that share top spots or outperform other cards in non-digital formats. Will this be taken into account in the future, and is this something that you are generally concerned about?

Mayhem Devil is by far my favorite 3 mana 3/3. It's so flexible and the art is great. The only thing I don't like about it is how annoying setting up the triggers is on Arena and Magic Online. It's such an elegant and nuanced card and it has an insanely high skill cap when doing damage calculations - especially with complicated combat math and mid-combat sacrificing [sacrificing attackers that are blocked, sacrificing post-damage to kill bigger blockers, removing blockers or killing attackers after blocks to soak up maximum damage]. Mayhem Devil is the card that made me like Rakdos as a color combination after it being my second least favorite after Boros since I started playing in 2011.
