Carolina's Achilles' heel was their goaltending. Switch goalies and the Canes take that series easily. The Canes will be in the market for a goalie this offseason along with the Devils.

We've seen it, the country club, the coddling of players. I'll tell you right now, with Berube behind the bench, there won't be any of that.” Colaiacovo, speaking on TSN Radio, said Berube was one his favourite coaches. “He keeps it real. He demands accountability. He demands structure. And he does it in a respectful way. He's a brutally honest coach. In today's hockey, people lose track of how important that is.” The fact that Fitz was never serious about Berube is really worrisome, because he was EXACTLY what we needed. Country club... coddling certain players...no accountability (sans Holtz). That defines the Devils to a 'T'.

I don't like the idea of getting woodcroft or Keefe. If they can't lure Brind'Amour or Sullivan, I'd rather they keep taking a little more time and expand their search. I like the idea that Ace said of inquiring about Oates. If Woodcroft and Keefe are their best options I would rather give the job to Brylin. He's an old school red army guy and has a strong work ethic, and has 3 cups. I'd also look at Stevens, Madden, Pandalfo, Julien, hell, I'd even see if Marty wanted to give it a shot. I'd even prefer Eveson over those other two.

@JSnow-rv8ls The D definitely needs to get bigger and nastier. Lots of defensemen available in Free Agency this Summer. Unfortunately, I do not see how Seamus Casey fits this team's shorterm plans. We do not need another undersized offensive defenseman. He should be traded for a WIN NOW piece(s).

I will say this, I thought we should focus on defense and offensive depth and grit. I wasn’t big on trading some of these guys for a goalie, but this Carolina series really shows what a vanacek will do to your team come playoffs. Need a good goalie and defense. Will be at thunder game tomorrow

@joepasquini7396 Defense and grit will be available July 1 in Free Agency. The goalie market is going to be extremely interesting. Many teams will be out there looking to address their goaltending issues. Hopefully Fitz' "Big Game Hunting" brings us a solid one. LET'S GO THUNDER!!!

Unfortunately after watching all these playoff teams I realize we need more than a coach and goalie.. we are way off from playoff caliber hockey

@craigparise8619 We are not that far off. We have a ton of the guys that were on the team in 2022-2023. Fitz needs to make the tweaks and add some grit. Assuming he isn't asleep at the wheel all summer, we will be a playoff team next year.

I wouldn't count on it but if Brind'Amour becomes available, I'd try to sign him. That team definitely played hard. They didn't have any reliable or consistent scoring or a winning goalie. At this point I'd give Kevin Dineen a chance. Better that than recycle these nondescript plastic bottles like Todd McLellan or Jay Woodcroft. No thanks.

Oates hasn't gotten a job offer in awhile so im wondering how much of a savant he is. He couldn't even get a interim title the last time. He was co coach with Scott Stevens.

Signing McDermid to a 3 year 1.2AAV is a f****** joke!!! Fitz needs to be fired. Mcdermid contributed zero to this team. We could have brought in two larger skilled players instead of wasting over a million a year on a useless player.

We could NOT have brought in "two larger skilled players" for $1.15M. The LEAGUE MINIMUM is $775K. MacDermid is far from useless. If you don't see his value, you don't know the game.

I’m not saying two guys could be brought in for that amount, what I’m saying is that Mcdermid only impacts for fighting, he doesn’t impact the run of play. We need at least two more tougher players that can also supply 5-10 goals combined. Mcdermid cannot support this team offensively. I like the guy, I just don’t agree with the deal at all

Adam Oates - a hockey greatest mind that failed miserably at Washington with prime Ovechkin, Backstrom and other great players. Couldnt even make playoffs one season. Yeah, he is #1😄

Brind'Amour would be fantastic, but it's a pipe dream. I have a feeling in my bones it's gonna be Keefe... which I don't mind 🤷‍♀ more interested in snagging Brady Tkachuk, a goalie, and a big heavy D-man who can play.
