I hope you have many more years with your friend! I hope my snakes make it that long. used to have a leopard gecko who I had from my 4th birthday all the way until just before I turned 28. She has been my longest living reptile so far. I had her so long I honestly think I had convinced myself she would never die. The reptile shop I used to work at just recently lost our roughly 18ft and 30 year old burmese python named "Chubby". She was the state recordholder and everything. She was very well known in the local community. This happened within 6 months of losing the stores other mascott, a hybrid iguana. So the store is going through some really rough times rightnow and its definitely effecting their business. My daughter still cries about Chubby's death sometimes. She loved visiting my old work and seeing the store mascotts just as much as going to the zoo. Chubby lived a nice long life though. Im happy to have gotten to work with her. We actually have burms at home too, as well as retics and an afrock. They arent 18ft and 200+ lbs though yet lol. Most of them homestly never will be. I actually think my afrock is the only one who has the genetic potential to get as big as chubby was. My female retic could maaaaybe get to 18ft, but shes not even half as heavy as my afrock despite being older. Shes actually a couple feet shorter than my afrock too. My afrock is actually my youngest snake. She is MASSIVE for her age. She was already 10ft exactly a year after she hatched. I dont understand how though. I even made her go off food for a month 3 different times before her 1st birthday to try to slow her growth. She still grew way faster in her 1st year than any of my burms or retics ever did. She was like triple the weight of my next fastest grower. Afrocks arent typically quite as big as burms or retics, but apparently no one told her that lol. I secretly hope she lives the longest because shes my favorite lol. I actually know a guy with a male afrock thats in his 30s! Hes a 9ft male. It seems to me that smaller reptiles live longer on average. My leopard gecko was on the small side too. I suspect it has something to do with smaller individuals of a species tending not to overwork their organs like the larger individuals do. The same theory seemingly applies to humans sometimes as well.

My horse is 23 years old and I've had him for 17 of those years. While horses have the potential to live into their 30s he has some health issues so he might not make it that long. He's not an easy keeper but he's my buddy boy who's an old man now.

I don't think you should breed normal ball pythons as many need homes already

Agreed! I should’ve explained that a little bit more in detail. I would only pair her with other males that I would have projects for, but not in hopes to get more normals, but I couldn’t agree more with you!
