คลิปนี้สร้างขึ้นจากการรวบรวมภาพนกโพระดกธรรมดาที่ได้พบเจอระหว่างการเดินชมธรรมชาติตามสวนสาธารณะทั้งในกรุงเทพมหานครและจังหวัดตามชายฝั่งทะเลภาคตะวันออกและภาคใต้ เป็นนกที่บินได้ปราดเปรียวว่องไว ขนสีเขียวเหมือนใบไม้ทำให้สังเกตได้ยากหากซ่อนตัวอยู่ตามต้นไม้ ด้วยความที่มีหัวโตปากหนาทำให้สังเกตและจดจำได้ง่าย เป็นนกชนิดหนึ่งที่เหมือนจะชอบอ้าปากค้างไว้ ซึ่งก็ดูน่ารักมากเหมือนกำลังยิ้มกว้างๆ ซึ่งเท่าที่หาข้อมูลดูพบว่ามีหลายเหตุผล เช่น เป็นการปรับอุณภูมิร่างกายในวันอากาศร้อน เพราะการอ้าปากไว้จะช่วยระบายความร้อนได้ รวมถึงช่วยด้านการหายใจเพราะนกจำพวกโพระดกมีการเผาผลาญสูงจึงต้องการออกซิเจนปริมาณมากในระหว่างทำกิจกรรมต่างๆ การเปิดปากไว้จะช่วยให้หายใจได้สะดวกขึ้น หวังว่าจะเพลิดเพลินกับคลิปนี้นะคะ
In this video, I have compiled my collection of footage featuring Lineated Barbets that I encountered during my nature walks in various parks located in Bangkok and provinces along the eastern and southern coasts. These birds are known for their swift flying and their green, leaf-like feathers, which can make them difficult to spot when they are hidden in trees. However, their distinctive big heads and thick bills make them easy to notice and remember. I have always been curious about why these birds often keep their bills open which gives them a cute appearance as if they are smiling widely. After conducting some research, I have learned that there are many reasons for this behavior, such as regulating body temperature on hot days and aiding with breathing. This is especially important for Barbet birds, as they have a high metabolism and require large amounts of oxygen during their activities. By keeping their bills open, they are able to breathe more easily. That makes sense! Hope you enjoy the video!

ตัวผู้และตัวเมียเหมือนกัน ขนตามลำตัวมีสีเขียวสดหัวและอกสีน้ำตาลอ่อนและมีลายสีเหลืองเป็นขีด ในระยะไกล ๆ อาจจะมองไม่เห็นขีดเหล่านี้ชัดเจนนัก สีสันของร่างกายส่วนอื่น ๆ เป็นสีเขียว หนังรอบตาสีเหลือง พบในทวีปเอเซีย แถบทวีปเอเชียในประเทศ อินเดีย จีน ชวา และในประเทศไทยพบอยู่ทั่วทุกภาคยกเว้นภาคอิสานตอนบน อาศัยอยู่ตามป่าโปร่ง เช่น ป่าเบญจพรรณ ป่าเต็งรัง และป่ารุ่นที่เกิดใหม่ ๆ หลังจากที่ป่าธรรมชาติถูกตัดฟันไปแล้ว บางครั้งก็พบตามสวนผลไม้ และป่าละเมาะ ตั้งแต่พื้นราบจนกระทั่งความสูง 800 เมตร จากระดับน้ำทะเล นกโพระดกธรรมดาชอบกินแมลง หนอน สัตว์เลื้อยคลาน และผลไม้ต่าง ๆ โดยเฉพาะไทร หว้า ตะขบ ส้านใบเล็ก และผลไม้เถาบางชนิด น้ำหวานของดอกไม้บางชนิด มักพบโดดเดี่ยว เป็นคู่ และอาจพบอยู่รวมกันจำนวนมากในต้นผลไม้ที่กำลังสุก และเป็นอาหารที่นกชอบ ปกติมักมองเห็นตัวได้ยากเพราะสีกลมกลืนกับสีของใบไม้ แต่มักได้ยินเสียงร้องเป็นประจำ และเป็นเสียงที่คุ้นเคยกันมากที่สุดชนิดหนึ่ง ส่งเสียงร้องดัง (โฮก-ป๊ก) ซ้ำทุก ๆ 3-4 นาที เป็นเสียงร้องที่ก้องและดังไปไกล บอกครั้งก็ร้องออกเป็นเสียง "โพ-ระ-ดก-ดก" โดยร้องถี่และรัว เมื่อตัวหนึ่งร้องตัวอื่น ๆ จะร้องขานรับกันตลอด มักจะได้ยินเสียงร้องทั้งวัน แต่จะได้บยินมากที่สุกในช่วงตจอนเช้าและตอนเย็น นกชนิดนี้ผสมพันธุ์ในช่วงเดือนมีนาคม-มิถุนายน ทำรังอยู่ตามโพรงไม้ ในป่าสูง วางไข่ครั้งละ 2-4 ฟอง ใช้ระยะเวลาฟักไข่ 14-15 วัน เป็นนกที่มีขนาดเล็ก 28-29 ซม. และสิ่งมีชีวิตที่มีความเสี่ยงต่ำต่อการสูญพันธุ์
