If you’re confident enough the key is to just pick it up quickly. When you hesitate and move your hand too much in front of the snake, it will feel threatened and strike more often.

Formic acid is a byproduct of fire ant waste, and is a great natural insecticide for removing mites and ticks from under the scales.Snakes have an instinctive knowledge of this , and will lay in the ant nest to remove them. Generally though, the lie in the abandoned ant beds because the formic acid buildup becomes too toxic for the ants. However , sometimes I did find snakes in occupied beds. Saw this over many years of helping in south Florida.

Favorite Herper, Noah~ When you call on the name of Jesus as the Only One who ever put up with religious mean people, died at their hands, and rose again so you could get to know Him, He gets so excited to meet you. He then makes you a new creation, fit to live in sinless perfection with Him forever. When His Name is called out as an expletive, an excited cuss word, He is disappointed that you didn’t call on Him as Savior. Please stop that or my time with you will have to end. Snakes are no longer fodder for a wildly wielded garden implement, but are now respected and appreciated. Thank you.😊
