stupid question I live in near asheville, and I sometimes go by the train yard when i'm out and about, but that bridge at the end of the clip, is that bridge near the end yard where the round house was?, cause it's hard to tell, I wasn't born till 94, so I can only assume that the bridge crossing the yard had been changed since 1989. let alone the mountain side next to it.

"Ride them while you can," a good friend of mine always says. Both of these locomotives are long cold and neither have run in years, maybe never to steam again in either case.

They already paired her up with 611, it was only natural 587 would get paired up with 1218 too.

God-Dawg it!!!This is EXACTLY what us REAL Steam guy's want to watch. Maybe somebody could "inform" the "Nibies" into creating videos just like this, that by bringing the family along and showing the towns and/or cities on your way doesn't mean a "Flying Crap" to us. Just stick to the topic and get-rid of all other extraneous stuff...(Your KZbin hits will increase dramatically...GUARANTEED!!!

The Comet 833 I think in 1989 it actually wore a CB&Q 5 chime. It wore a Nathan 5 chime afterwards
@NickelPlatedProductions4 жыл бұрын
It was originally a Baldwin whistle, which it wore from 1918 til 1989. In 1991 the whistle was replaced with Nickel Plate Road 624s Lima 5 Chime whistle which it wore from 1991 til 2002.

The tender for the NKP 587 is oversized
@TheBNSFengineer6 жыл бұрын
It's not the original tender, the original was much smaller
@WorldOfNothin6 жыл бұрын
Same is true for the 4501, the tenders where changed out for bigger ones, this was being practice during the steam era as well on some railroads to increase run time on engines without refueling! The larger tender obviously has a larger capacity for coal and water which means, especially now and back when this was filmed they could go longer periods of time without stopping to be refueled as it has becoming more time consuming to load coal with no coaling towers and same can be said for the use of the auxiliary water tender as there isn't any way to get water during a trip like you would back during the steam era. I've seen videos were they have the local fire department bring a truck out and pump water into the tender or a tanker truck. It was a necessary evil to put the bigger tender on the engine if you want to put it that way.

Cheetolicuos diritolicous why wouldnt it be? It IS NKP 639’s tender.
