Thanks for sharing your story on N64BC. Co-sign, because that was some real shit you just said. On a smaller scale I'm fighting some of that same mentality after returning to the game after 12 years. I can't even consistently pull off a TF input for shortcuts on most tracks. It's had me thinking along those lines of being almost 29 and just not being able to game like you used to. You can do anything that you want to that you set your mind to. That was inspirational to listen to and we can all use that reminder. May you have the most fruitful time trial year since your prime days and reach your goals. I intend to do the same and hopefully catch you in a TT worldwide lobby.
@zcubed1Ай бұрын
38:10 The bounces allow you to buffer a hop input without hopping, similarly to other wheelie locks, and holding drift in mid air in general. Tilting the stick while holding drift and getting bounces on the last boost panel starts the drift. From a practical perspective, hop while getting bounced by the second to last boost panel, and don't touch the stick until you stop bouncing. Adjust your alignment (or don't), then start tilting the stick either as or slightly before getting bounced by the last boost panel.
@NMeadeАй бұрын
This is so useful, thank you for breaking that down for me. I'm going to practice this and see how long it takes to get it down

These time sheet videos have been a really big help to me as of late. At the beginning of this year I decided to start taking time trialing in CTR Nitro Fueled seriously and one of the biggest hurdles has been handling my mindset. It honestly really helps to hear that others have the same issues I do and that all it takes sometimes is a simple change in perspective. You’re gonna crush your goals as long as you put the time in. Great video as always!
@NMeadeАй бұрын
Thank you! I've always been curious how it went for others that would time trial different racing games or just any form of speedrunning outside of MKW that happens to watch the TT scene for this game. I think that age is very much not a limiting factor when it comes to gaming. I think the reason that as people get older they tend to stagnate/appear to get worse has more to do with passion and free time. As people get older they tend prioritize other things in life like family/work rather than grinding out a video game 8+ hours a day like they used to in their earlier years. I'm sure that with the right mindset and dedication you can achieve most things in gaming at the highest level.
@oxey_Ай бұрын
I agree. As long as Faker keeps winning world championships in league of legends I'll say age is not what's holding you back
@chanhilator2Ай бұрын
There is a notion on the Internet that as you get older you physically can’t complete the inputs you used to, but this regression is so minimal that it makes literally no difference until you’re like past 45 years old. Age makes pretty much no difference at all when it comes to gaming in my opinion.

I enjoyed what you said at the end. I have played sports my entire life, and something I’ve found is that when I let my instincts take over, I play the best. I can say with certainty that what you said at the end of the video is very true. Getting a place in the tops yes it is difficult, but the biggest difficulty is not in the run itself, it is the mind. I for one have been playing Mario kart Wii for many years but it wasn't until this year that I started playing for the first time with an analog controller (wiimote + nunchuck), and yes, at the beginning it was a little difficult but within weeks I had already adapted to the fastest strategies today in all nintendo tracks, and in a few months I managed to get a place in the tops of several custom tracks. And as you said, that's not achieved by having more skill or necessarily being better than most, it's achieved by focusing your mind on always going for the fastest strategy and controlling your nerves. Many players get frustrated when they can't get a decent record on their favorite tracks, and that's why those players are better served by this advice, the most important thing is to have a 100% focused mind and be consistent with your strategies. If it doesn't work, re-watch the world record, memorize the moves again and keep practicing. It also helps a lot to watch the splits of others players who are cooking the same track. This is the best way to play time trials. Also great video, wonder you gonna break that pbs!!

Hello Nick. To help ease your doubt, the reaction time decline fact is heavily exaggerated. It peaks at around age 25, and the dropoff is very slow, around 6ms per decade. In any case, raw reaction time is often not leveraged in many games and compensated with otherwise. Reaction times down to 120ms have been documented, and the holders are generally more average people than you may think. So you're definitely capable of exceeding not only your past performance, but your past ability as well.
@NMeadeАй бұрын
Thank you for this, I have actually been really curious about what the actual stats say for this notion and clearly not really knowing the facts about it prematurely let me feel defeated at points without giving a full fledged effort again. On Grumble Volcano on time trials, I got a time of 00:52.316 doing the shortcut with Peach Mach Bike and I had no idea how do hit the checkpoints or where they were, regardless I still got the lap counts first try. I use the nunchuck and Wii mote BTW. How do I improve this without going for the clip off the start line pole? I'm usually afraid to take big risks like that, to clip off the pole to get on the rock and try to drift faster without falling off. What can I do to get a better time?

Hope your doing well big dawg. Had a question, how do you become more consistent when driving on TT’s, I noticed I have huge errors way too often.
@NMeadeАй бұрын
Doing good and I hope the same for you! The boring answer but the honest answer is simply playing much more and playing consistently without taking too big of breaks (i.e. several week breaks). Once you refine different techniques in the beginning phase it will make learning other tracks easier down the line. Ultimately, the one who has time trialed a track 500 attempts versus 50,000+ or 100,000+ attempts will see the biggest performance difference of consistency. Those numbers may seem a big extreme but are likely accurate for the niche of speedrunning this is with most tracks being 1-2 minutes long and you can restart sometimes the first 3-10 seconds on lap 1 repeatedly if you made too big of an error (I'm actually interested to track how many restarts I do in a 2-3 hour TT session as a fun experiment thinking about this now)

@idiot-rz9zkАй бұрын
feel free to disregard my suggestion, im a nobody…but i think the most efficient strategy to improve all your tracks is to push for world record on ONE track, which will push your driving fundamentals and know-how and nerve management to a world class level. Then, itll make getting another world record easier, and theoretically itll snowball bc driving skill and consistency is ultimately whatll keep u from getting WRs. At least, thats what I would do. It requires a lot of belief in your self but i think this snowball approach is the most direct route to improving as a player and as a consequence, on every track. I say this bc i play smash and most top players explain that you should not be worrying too much about the intricacies of different matchups and should just focus on getting better fundamentally fighting fewer characters Edit: also, ive heard a lot about taiga who has a ton of world records in mkds, also mkdasher. I think its pretty sensible to say that the ppl who have WRs are the ones who are most likely to get WRs on tracks they havent really played bc their driving is simply next level in general. They know what it takes to do it once and just rinse repeat on every track 🤔
@MK_Cheezy_ChickenАй бұрын
You can do it like that but it’s really good to play a variety of tracks cause they are all not the same. Don’t know if this game is like MK8DX but at least in MK8DX it’s not easy to play one track until you get WR and start playing another to get another WR. All tracks are different so it’s good to play some variety
