Chasing Ultimate Consistency in Mario Kart | Road to 30,000 VR Online Time Trial #1

Here we go! This will take forever to reach this goal but I look forward to the challenge. Online TT is back! To answer a few questions (I'll make a FAQ for the description of these videos in the future)... 1. Ghost transparency is back! It was added around 2 weeks ago. It will be in this around episode 5 (already have a few sessions recorded). 2. This is a partially adapted version of the Online TT game mode in Retro Rewind, so for now, we are not able to change our vehicle after a track is selected. For now, we'll be maining Funky/Flame Runner and not using Daisy/Mach, Funky/Spear or Toadette/Magikruiser for those respective tracks. 3. Runs do not save in this game mode. If you get an overall PB, it technically will not count on TT leaderboards as it isn't set via CTGP and no ghost data is saved to be analyzed (people have already been cheating in a few lobbies). 4. Your "finishing time" and the time you see on the leaderboard can be off up to 1 frame (~.016/.017 I believe). From what I understand this is a Wimmfi/server related quirk. 5. If you see the finishing placement flash between placements after crossing the finish line (explaining some reactions I have after directly crossing the finish line), this game mode includes a code that allows you to see your updated placement as more racers cross the finish line before the final leaderboard is generated when the race concludes. 6. For those that have been asking, I would love to do a separate series to do a season 2 of the Online TT Lounge down the line if enough activity can support a full series; even at its peak activity a few years ago, after event ~30 or so general activity was significantly decreased. 7. I use an external input viewer to capture my controller inputs (I use the Gamecube controller). I use a software called Retro Spy that displays the input viewer's captured inputs. I chroma key the background of a input skin and made a custom layout in Photoshop to match the Retro Rewind theming of silver. May add a few more FAQ to the list and include it in all future video descriptions. For now, I hope you all enjoy the beginning of this series.

Glad to hear you're enjoying it! Competitor's best refers to the collective competition throughout the entire series (excluding my own). I figured this would be something people would be curious about especially when we get 50-100 episodes deep of what the fastest completed time was with the competition of different rooms I am in for the entire series compared to just my own completed best time in the series. This will likely rapidly change in the first several dozen episodes.

Another Online TT banger! Great video, NMeade! Also 1:36, I tend to agree with the decision to remove UMTs. I think UMT’s are great for normal worldwides, but I think that TT worldwides should be strictly vanilla vehicles. People have spent a decade and a half working on TT’s on the vanilla vehicles and it doesn’t seem fair that several tracks someone can autowin because they’re using a modded vehicle.

I think making it an option for funrooms or offline/lan would be awesome. The more possibilities the more people could have fun playing this game, BUT its in no way meant for online play. It completely changes the way the game plays and that is just frustrating to everybody with a love for this game and the unique insidedrift meta we all love

By the way, the pipe strat on Warp Pipe Island (5:12) is actually shroomless if you aren't aware of that! Shrooming definitely makes it a lot tougher as you will overshoot (shroom on the long S bend before the cut instead). Epic series man I look forward to it many lunch breaks solved moving forward!

I'm not sure if I like karts having their UMTs removed. So what if karts were like 3 or 4 seconds faster on some tracks? Without them, *bikes* are faster by 3 or 4 seconds on "some" tracks. (They're better on like, *every* track apart from Rainbow Road, sometimes even by 7 seconds on e.g. rBC3 or Nick's Big Bad Castle) Were karts also this busted where bikes had only like 1 or 2 tracks they would win on? Obviously, I will still enjoy watching this seriers, even without UMTs. Edit: Nice Grumble Volcano time!

Absolutely, as of now, karts has UMTs, which are MTs that are insanely long and faster than your regular MTs, making it so that Karts are able to keep up to bikes on lots of tracks (you also are able to chain MTs after your UMT to keep the speed boost for longer)

I really dislike that the kart changes with UMTs got reverted. IMO it's more than fair if karts have this big an advantage on Flame Runner or Mach Bike on some tracks cause for every "kart-track" there are at least 3 tracks where a good Flame Runner is gonna be up by multiple seconds on any kart just per default. The only change that'd balance it "correctly" IMO would be the ability to change to kart/bike post track selection. Having relevant kart tracks would also force people to learn how to use karts more which is fun and offers more variety in gameplay. Oh well.
