NMN and resveratrol 12 month trial result.
My wife and I have been taking NMN supplements for one year now, after we hear the talks of Dr. David Sinclair. This is a report of our progress during the year. Some key points in the report are our younger epigenetic age than a year ago as well as my wife's menopause apparently reversing.

I was in the hospital with covid for a full week. I had covid for 2 weeks before being hospitalized. I wasn't getting better. After a week in the hospital and almost dying, they gave me 4 bags of Remdesivir and it killed the covid. I got to live and was released the next day. I hadn't eaten in in over 3 weeks and lost about 30 pounds. I could barely walk and was extremely weak. 2 years later i was still extremely week. It never went away. I tried exercise but i could barely do anything. The Drs said i had massive damage from low oxygen to my entire body especially my organs. I started looking around for things that helped other people in my exact situation and someone pointed me to NMN and another thing called NAC. I started taking both of them daily and in a week i started feeling normal again. After 2 weeks, i felt strong and started working out again. Whatever is in this stuff, it actually works. No Doctor was able to help me and i was just written off.

Is there a risk that restoration of menstruation in elderly women would bring a set of its own problems. It happens. We need to watch out. The concept of age reversal is in conflict with the human evolutionary history so it will face hurdles and limitations. We need to be on guard for them. Being cautiously optimistic is critical. Humans have never conquered nature. That is not going to be exception either.

One thing to note is that Richard's wife had very recently gone through the first phase of menopause whereby her periods had stopped. Results might not be the same for women with a longer gap between their last period and taking NMN as my reading suggests that the number if eggs continues to reduce each year and there are a finite number.

May i suggest taking Organic Beef liver capsules. They are an excellent source of Vit A which is essential for healthy skin, vision, and enhancing immune health. Liver capsules are also a high source of B12 & Folate so I no longer buy the supplement i used to take for those vitamins, as i get a good natural dose from the liver capsule + Vit A. Of course you could just eat liver meat which is far cheaper than capsules, but i hate the taste personally.

Thanks so much for these videos on NMN Richard. I started taking NMN in early May. I have been dealing with long Covid symptoms (most notably fatigue, shortness of breath and brain fog) for over 2 years now. I was not hospitalized but was asymptomatic. I noticed a big change once I started NMN. It helped get rid of the fatigue. I tried many other things such as B complex vitamins and even more coffee but I would find myself still getting tired very early in the day. It has helped my brain fog a bit. I've tried to post in support groups about NMN and even in KZbin comments and much of the time my posts/comments are removed. I really think it would help many more people with long Covid if they knew about it. I'm not quite back to normal yet but I'm much improved from a year ago. Of course, much of that could come from taking regular collagen (I assume peptides), but it does seem reasonable to suppose that the NMN is also playing an important contributory role. Here's to an update in a year and two from now when we'll hopefully all be able to better conclude the efficacy or otherwise of this longevity experiment you are running. My own stack is larger than yours but broadly in the same direction.

The primary risk of NMN supplementation (or NR), is the depletion of the methyl group ‘pool’ on which many aspects of your metabolism interact and modulating your DNA expression, It is possible to replenish the cellular methyl pool exogenously via supplementation

It sounds like your wife may have chronic autoimmune urticaria. It usually lasts for 1-2 years, is totally unexplainable as far as actual irritants, then disappears. It isn’t an allergy although it seems to be. A 7 day water fast with electrolytes under Doctor supervision also helped me. My hives and rashes are completely gone now for over a year.
@planetaryPoem9
@planetaryPoem9 Жыл бұрын
She should start doing prolonged fasts. I have contact eczema and although I still get the allergy if I come into contact with chemicals (especially my hands), the body clears them immediately (one to two days). I take NMN but I also do prolonged fasting 24-48 hours weekly. The body is able to contain the allergy very quickly with prolonged fasting.

For your wife's rash I would highly recommend B3 (Niacin) at 500 mg once or twice a day. The B3 will generate facial flushing (this lasts about most 45 min- totally harmless). She should also take alpha-R-lipoic acid 300 mg 1x or 2x per day. She should see results within a week. Best wishes

As I mentioned in the video, She's taking NMN about 10 months, overall she's more energetic but seems not helping her allergy much. Thank you!
@thewizardTim999
@thewizardTim999 3 жыл бұрын
@@ModernHealthspan Hi again. Sorry my response has taken so long. Niacin helps in the rejuvenation of myelin around peripheral nerves. You can look up this paper. Niacin-mediated rejuvenation of macrophage/microglia enhances remyelination of the aging central nervous system. In other readings I've found that peripheral nerves can influence rashes. So, my hope is that stabilizing peripheral nerves may help reduce the allergic effect. I've found the combination of B3 and ALA has helped me. Of course all of this may be individual specific. Hope this helps.

It appears your wife is gluten sensitive and histamine sensitive. She may benefit from taking an enzyme supplement DAO. This can breakdown excess histamine if taken prior to eating and potentially after eating. If it is histamine smoked meats and fermented products will cause her rash as well as avocado and corn. Histamine sensitivity often accompanies gluten sensitivity. Best wishes, Tim

I am concerned about the period of not taking NMN. Your wife's epigenetic age quickly resumed to the level it must had been before taking NMN. So it seems NMN only makes one younger while it is being taken. Perhaps we should not exogenously raise the levels of NAD+ with a precursor, but stimulate the subsystem in our body that makes more NAD+. I mean quite a bit like taking 5-HTP vs taking an SSRI. Then later when endogenous NAD+ stimulation is possible, one could develop drugs that can keep that (semi-)permanent.

I would suggest adding assays of inflammation if you can find an affordable one for healthy people. My supplement list is much different with similar improvements with one assay of low inflammation. Sometimes I wonder if NMN is just an expensive non-flush version of niacin, especially since this paper was published that found most NMN gets converted to nicotinic acid riboside and enters the same pathway as niacin, not the salvage pathway of which NMN is an intermediary. There was also a trial long ago, before stating, that looked at niacin for cholesterol control, then a decade later they did a follow and saw a significant reduction in all cause mortality in the group that had received niacin (3dd 1g for around 6 years) The good thing is niacin is really cheap but if you ever decide to take it, take the flush version not the non-flush which can be hepatotoxic

Has your wife thought about brand of washing up liquid potentially being a cause to some of her insensitivity's? Small amounts do get left on plates and pots and pans, which can get ingested. Me and wife have recently used a castile soap, hot water, and bicarb mix as an alternative (and elbow grease). A bit different, as this is not ingestion based - two years ago I randomly got eczema on my hands and wrists. In the end, extra strong steroid cream reduced it, but never completely (and you can only use it for a few weeks). So after stopping the steroids - the thing that eliminated the eczema for me was using gloves while washing dishes (helped to clear 80%), and then finally I stopped using Aussi brand shampoo (helped to clear 100%) - I used no shampoo and just rinsed every day instead. cleared it up within a couple of weeks. I now use shampoo, just a different brand.

I can't find your wife's age in here. That said, it's not unusual to have periods return for a while after they have apparently stopped, until they finally stop completely. It will be more significant if they continue after another year. But NMN is fantastic. I'm almost 69, have been taking NMN almost a year and have more energy than I have EVER had. I've never been an athletic person, rather curl up with a book. Now I can't wait to exercise. The only thing, if I don't exercise I don't feel much effect from the NMN. If I do exercise, it multiplies the effect of the NMN, and the NMN multiplies the effect of the exercise. In my experience, you have to exercise to really trigger the rejuvenating effect of NMN. NMN and exercise are synergistic.

Nice one Richard and to your wife! I will be purchasing NMN soon. I've also commented that your skin/hair looks better in a previous video recently. This may be of interest - David Sinclair also uses a moisturiser with resveratrol in it, which he helped developed. He never gave the brand name in the interview, but a google search found it. I heard about Dual-N-Back about 3 years ago and I started doing it for a while, but honestly I hated it so much that I stopped. Back then they claimed it improved 'fluid intelligence'. I wonder if the results from the paper been replicated (i'll find out after this). Working memory improvements would be good for myself and I probably have more to gain in this area. Your biological age increased slightly (on a downwards curve though?), did anything change for you during this period? less exercise, too much exercise, bad stress, easing on the diet, sleep issues, toxins (unlikely due to your wifes general sensitivities).

just finished listening to the last minute of your video to which you say covid interfered with your access to the gym, which in part answers my question i think.

Hi thanks for your comments and sharing. Interesting about Dr. Sinclair using resveratrol on the skin. WRT Dual N Back, as I recall the claim was that it improved your fluid intelligence by increasing your working memory. Yes my biological age did tick up in the last test. In general no major issues during this time, though as you noted exercise has been intermittent. It may be the precision of the tests and is just part of the normal variance. It will be interesting to see the results of the next test which we should be doing soon.

@@ModernHealthspan www.nature.com/articles/s41598-020-77310-9 I found this article, which I guess indicates it could be a worthwhile effort to complete Dual-N-Back.

Isn't it odd how your wife's values revert back to the normal so quickly and closely? @ 6:30 I would've expected that if rejuvenation takes place, it would have a bit more of a permanent effect. Or maybe it's a limitation of the test? To go from almost 11 years to under 2 in only 3 months seems like the test somehow responds to immediate changes NMN causes which go away as soon as NMN supplementation goes away

Look into mast cell activation syndrome and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome for your wife. Some of her symptoms line up. I have both and also take NMN. It doesn't necessarily help directly with these but quercetin might. However, NMN still improves the quality of my life, despite this. I too have less night sweating as I was perimenopausal at 37. My biological age is 24.
