The major mistake people make when choosing supplements is bias. We categorize what we consume into pharmaceuticals (greatest bad), food (much is bad), and supplements (vitamins, minerals, etc) as the least bad. Think of any substance as potentially good or bad. So supplements can be as harmful to you as some prescription drugs. But people will hear about a supplement, buy it over the counter, and take it without knowing of its potential harms. Don't take any supplement unless you know its potential side effects, long-term effects, and interactions. And if it isn't proven scientifically to provide the benefits you expect, or there are contradictory studies, don't take it. The only supplements I take after spending thirty years researching them: 1. Multiple Vitamin 2. Omega 3 3. Vitamin D3/K2 as MK-7 4. Magnesium 5. Fiber 6. Electrolyte powder to mix with water when excercising. Also, if you are either consuming processed food, or food with added sugar, why are you bothering to take supplements? How are they going to make you healthier when you are poisoning yourself with food?

My understanding is they have demonstrated an increase in NAD levels. However I'm not aware of any evidence of functional improvement. Ultimately then it is still a hypothesis that the mechanisms used to increase NAD are have a net positive effect when considering their full impact. For example if NAD is being consumed due to accumulation of damage being repaired as we age then increasing NAD by blocking pathways where NAD is required may have the opposite of the desired effect. Additionally these ingredients have other affects. Rutin for example is cytotoxic and is being explored as an anti cancer substance. I'm yet to come across a cancer med without side effects and I've evaluated many as part of my job

Better to get your omega-3s from food and not (potentially rancid) fish oils. I've recently started eating sardines, (in water- not seed oil) a few times a week. In my local grocery store, you can get 10 cans for $10. There's about 1500 mg of EPA and DHA in a 3.5oz can. That's more than an equal weight of salmon and less likely to be contaminated by heavy metals (like the larger predator oily fish). I would politely like to add an very important point regarding Vit D and blood measurment [06:08]. Currently it is only possible to measure the transport precursor form of the biologically active Vit D directly. This precursor transport form is called 25 OH, or Calcidiol. That's usually what is measured in the blood. But the biologically active Vit D form inside the cells is called 1,25 OH, or Calcitriol and this is the relevant compound regarding epigenetic regulation inside the cells. Intracellular Vit D 1,25 OH aka Calcitriol is activated then by another agent known as Vit A or Retinol. Together they form an enzymatic complex which acts as epigenetic regulator. It turns thousands of genes on an off. Regarding this it can happen that the measured 25 OH concentration in the blood sample appears high while the bioactive 1,25 concentration inside the cells is low. This can e.g. be related to a lack of Vit D binding proteins (VDBPs) which are necessary to get 25 OH into the cells. Furthermore a high 1,25 OH concentration inside the cells is not really effective without Retinol as co-compound.

Thank you again Magnifico.. have you given any interview .. you seem to know a good deal of the internal working and the fringe details that many guests miss.. I found Dr Nichola explain why she did what she rated, logical. @MrElmagnific05 ай бұрын
@@Mellon_Musk Exactly, 1,25 OH - or if you want to use it's other label = "Calcitriol" - is the active form of Vit D inside the cells. It binds with Vit A/Retinol creating an epigenetically active complex which is modulating the expression of thousands of genes. Therefore it is so crucial for cell health and homöostasis.

No I have no podcast yet nor I am planning to start such format. I can recommand you a basic lecture around this topic. It' s a book called "Why We Age And How To Stop It", by Dr. Sandra Kaufmann. It's a must read. In general: if you want to reduce inflamation im cells you should activate your SIRTUINS, avoid stress, change your mindset (be thankful, greatful, forgetful, loving, compassionate and do not live in the past. Use good high quality oils (olive oil, omega-3 oils, no industrial processed oils from plants), reduce meat especially processed food, sugar and bad/empty carbohydrartes from sweets. Use good and pure water - no plastic bottles. Change your diet to organic plant based. Exercise, meditatitate, be spiritual, search for constructive friendships and relations and have fun in your unique and wonderful life journey. All this points are relevant to reduce inflammation. Allow me another (hopefully helpful) remark regarding TMG and methylation [10:42]. I would rather not supply additional methyl-groups via e.g. TMG as long as the intrinsic methylation process inside the cells is working. Sure, the intrinsic concentration of methyl-groups seems to decline with age but in this case it is mostlikely more efficient to supplement with methylated folic-acid (Vit B9, --》bioactive Quadrofolic) and methylated cobalamin (Vit B12) which are crucial compounds of our bodies intrinsic methylation-cycle inside the cells. High homocystein blood levels can be a strong indicator for a distortion of above mentioned methylation-cycle and it's pathways.

Is it's level outside of the "normal" range I would strongly recommand to supplement with Quadrofolic (B9) and methyl-cobalamin (B12). Take it forca period of at least 6 months and retest your Homocystein status again to check whether this intervention was succesfull -》your Homocystein blood concentration should be significantly reduced.

I wish they would talk more about all these supplements on gut health. I strongly believe that collagen peptides caused me collagenous colitis. And that glycine, tmg, oil supplements and more, are causing diarrhea too.
@DrTimPearce5 ай бұрын
I can imagine this is a side effect of many supplements. Gut bacteria may be the key and may be one of the fundamental variables in many drug side effects and diseases.

14:13 "I don't think you should *take a supplement to deal with another supplement* negative effect"... So is vit. K2 an exception? As mentioned at 3:53, K2 avoids vit. D3 calcification issues and thus "should be paired together" to avoid this negative effect... 😕

One thing she didn't state about Turmeric. If you are taking a Curcumin supplement, it is better absorbed when you eat it with food, particularly fat.

The comments didn't seem logical, in first instance she cautioned D3 should be taken with K2, and high D3 could be dangerous without K2. Yet she demonised NMN for needing to be taken with TMG?

There are abbreviations used here with no translation or meaning. I am not an apothecary (someone who prepares and sells medicines and drugs, a chemist) and so you could do just as well if you were speaking swahili. At about 35 min's in it felt as though I was sitting in the middle of a Bantu village. I couldn't make out the abbreviations, which were many. What I did understand was interesting and informative. Translations please.

Why do these people want to live forever anyway ? Do they think that their contribution to mankind is so great that we should have to suffer them for longer than the normal span? Vanity. What a desperate time we live in.

TMG because it can replace some choline more effectively, safely and cheaply than choline supplements and because it helps to lower homocysteine and make sure to get enough methylation and methionine even in a diet favourably low in methionine. It's also good to maintain or improve cognition, mental health, muscle mass and physical performance.

'However, other studies have found mixed results. For example, a study published in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry in 2019 found no added benefit when researchers combined omega-3s EPA and DHA with the antidepressant sertraline (Zoloft). A 2016 analysis of 40 clinical trials also found mixed results " Depends on which study(s) one wants to believe

Long before lines and wrinkles happen , there occurs an expression loss. This is the stage we need to intervene to work on levels of muscle, adipose, nerve and capillaries. Long before any lines happen expression is already distorted. When you want to understand a system. Look at the most energetic parts. Such as nerve such as capillaries and muscle They do create the most distortion. All rest otherwise is tale to do the best in a worst. Worst bc modern medicine has never explained facial changes properly. Mean no disrespect🙏

I watched the presentation which struck me as mostly marketing. There was a lack of scientific rigor by Dr. Nichola. I did some digging until I found the ingredient list for Time+ proprietary “formula” which doesn’t match the asking price. She should go back to her laboratory job, and leave the storytelling to Disney.

When it comes to taking omega-3s - which algae oil supplement for a vegan diet would you recommend, in view of the fact that many of them come together with a substantial amount of omega-6s?

Vitamin D3 has a half life about 15-25 days in your system...I do not understand how taking it in a morning or evening would impact your sleep. The important thing would be your 25Hydroxy level. Regarding K2 and calcium , vitamin D3 supplementation will NOT raise your calcium level unless taken pharmacological level. 50.000-100.000IU daily for long run!! In that case having vitamin K2 will not be of help either.
