@@NMRobertRamirez You're welcome! I know a good teacher when I see one. I'm a teacher myself. What's your favorite book on the Pirc? I'm trying to decide which one to buy...
@NMRobertRamirez3 жыл бұрын
@@Thisrandomguyonline Good question! In the description of this video, you will find a link that will take you to my book recommendations. There, I listed two books about the Pirc (main line with g6 and Bg7). Now, when I first prepared the Pirc, I did it using a Chess encyclopedia. This is basically pages of lines without any explanation - nothing like a book. Then, by reviewing games of other players and playing it myself, I understood it better. These two books I am recommending were brought to my attention by one of my students who would consult me any time he found a line he wanted to go deeper into. I ended up buying them, but I only reviewed specific chapters to assist him and I can tell the information is well presented and clear. If I had to pick one, I would pick the one by James Vigus. If you get any, let me know what you think.

@NMRobertRamirez3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your kind words, Muhammad! And yes, that's my philosophy as well -the most important thing is middle and endgame training. I am sure most of your games are decided in those stages instead of in the opening. Once you get more advanced, you might dedicate more time to opening training. Truth is that after a while you will feel like you need to add another opening to your repertoire, but that's okay. At that point you will have a really good foundation on middle and endgame. Maybe by then you start looking into the regular Pirc (lesson # 69) and the King's Indian Defense (lesson # 85) 👍

@NMRobertRamirez3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Brian! It is certainly easier when you have some guidance throughout the opening and even sometimes the middlegame. The key is to keep playing and studying it until you fully understand it. Whenever you have time, watch lesson # 57. You will learn how to play against one of the most dangerous variations your opponent can choose against the Czech Pirc, but more importantly, you will learn how you can atudy any opening.
@briangorman10793 жыл бұрын
@@NMRobertRamirez, after move 11 for white, I see that you responded with cxd5. Would you have done that if white had their knight on c3? The timestamp I'm referring to is about 9:45 - thank you!
@NMRobertRamirez3 жыл бұрын
Hey Brian! Good question. As a general rule, I try not to break on d5 when their knight is on c3. And of course, whenever that knight is not on c3, doing d5 immediately comes to mind I if the timing is right I would do it. In this specific position you refer to, I would not mind if his knight was there because if he took with his knight on d5 then I take with my knight from f6. If instead he takes his bishop first, even better for me since he is giving up his fianchetto bishop. Does this make any sense?
@briangorman10793 жыл бұрын
@@NMRobertRamirez that makes perfect sense thank you! And, if he were to move Nb5 instead, would the best move be Qb6, to threaten and get the queen to safety?
@NMRobertRamirez3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. Do not forget that Nb5 is what we call a one-move threat. We can easily attack that knight by doing a6 and he wasted a tempo at the end of the day.
