Really puts things into a whole other perspective. The level of violence displayed here almost seems exaggerated like what you typically see in a SAW movie except it really did happen well over a century ago. The recreation is superb in a morbid and disturbing kind of way. I can’t even fathom what it would have been like being a forensic investigator during this time, let alone the poor bastard who discovered the MJK’s body in that dimly lit room. This is perhaps the most horrific and gruesome crime scene in recorded history, period. Calling it a murder doesn’t even begin to describe it, this is the very definition of demented savagery and even that doesn’t do it justice. Even the Black Dahlia is only mild compared to MJK. As shock and disturbing as this is, there an odd satisfaction knowing what the scene actually looked like in a full 3D diagram. Reports and the infamous photographs can only give you so much. I assume you’re working on the rest of the canonical 5. In a morbid way, you are giving justice to these poor souls

There was a Canadian female reporter that visited this room in 1891, and the occupant was still living with the bloodstains on the walls, because they wouldn't wash off. Another known fact, The room above Marie Kelly's was the scene of another horrific murder, that of another woman with throat slashed..Killer was also never found.

Thank you. I'm trying to get this room as realistic as possible. The aim is photorealism - at least the part that is MJK2. And I think I can nail that at least given that we have that photo to work with. The rest of the room can be worked on until it's totally realistic - although I might need to employ a professional 3D artist for some of the things that are beyond my abilities! Regarding the actual inclusion of Mary Kelly's body, I was/am worried about HOW real this experience should be - how much real horror should be included. We need to totally respect Mary kelly and balance the realms of taste, decency and respect for her. But I decided on an all or nothing approach because this project is aiming to show the real horror of what happened to Mary in that room. Creating a sanitised version would defeat the object of the project. These murders are not gothic and romanticised fictions that I think people (especially young people) imagine them to be. If people want to learn the facts of this case and are interested enough to visit/view these recreations then they have to be prepared to be shocked by the reality of the scene. Also, I am aiming for this to be a tool for research so it needs to be as accurate as possible so we (researchers) can use it when discussing and analysing Miller's Court as a VR crime scene.

Photography was pretty new technology the only ripper crime scene photographed was mary kellys.

Yeah, you think because it happened back then that it probably wasn’t that bad, only shocking because of the time. You then see that photo and are extremely shocked at just how over the top gruesome these murders were.

The mary kelly case really confuses me, it shows a distinct change in mo. I am convinced that a slaughterman, living locally did the killings, but the kelly case is strange. Where others see savagery i see extreme care and attention. Kelly was being explored and is the “final step” along the way. Each woman was slaughtered as would happen in an abattoir, their throat being cut, and then dissected like a slaughterman would. Kelly is different though, she is younger and taller, she is in lodgings. Its as if jack was wanting more time to explore and be creative (signs he showed in earlier killings), the paring to the bone is instructive, he is literally making “steaks”. There is also the weird sexual angle which points to issues with his sexuality and personal relationships, its telling the women were nearly all prostitutes. It is clear to me though that he is “dressing” the body like a butcher would.

Very good insight. That would make a lot of sense infeel like he focused more on mary kelly as the crime was committed indoors, hence he would have time to butcher her without being disturbed. Perhaps that's why this one was thr most brutal
