NO AC!!! Frozen Low Side Line...

Frozen low side ac line. What cause a frozen line? Low on freon. This one had a full charge. A restriction of some sort. This one had a clogged rear orifice tube for the back compartment.

Hah! As soon as you said obstruction I thought "orifice tube". I had a 1995 Dodge Dakota with the 318 Magnum V8. AC got weak and stopped working. Had it drained. The 95 version had a fixed orifice tube, but I got a variable orifice tube for it. Once assembled and recharged it blew great again, but unlike with the truck idling before, now it continued to blow cold at idle. Something about the variable orifice tube and pressure at idle versus at road RPM.

Really don't see a lot of orifice tubes around. Mostly expansion valves. And they get clogged too

If that orifice tube if plugged the condenser tubes & receiver dryer filter probably is also,especially if it’s the style that’s part of the condenser.

It's not. There's a completely separate part of that system up top outside. Completely different condenser. If it was in the front most def would change the condenser as well

There you go. Something else I've learned about old a/c hoses. On a good system we'd replace the expansion valve and check pressures however back in the early eighties when I worked at a service station, I got to watch the owner disgnose and fix car A/C's. The cars with A/C we worked on were mostly from the mid to late seventies so the A/C systems weren't old enough to have that kind of failure.

Oh yeah things have changed since. Now this orifice is in the patient compartment. Some of them have an expansion valve. The front of the truck does have an expansion valve.

Its all in good fun, until someones orifices gets plugged then the free flo has stopped. Eat a lot of beans and onions you'll be free flowing all night.

After seeing the inside of that hose I was expecting the orifice tube to be plugged. I am surprised that the ambulance boxes aren't equipped with their own roof mounted a/c units. Those poor little compressors are working themselves to death cooling both the cab and that big box.

It has an external condenser some are uptop front. Some on side underneath. Yeah poor compressor. Thats why I go through so many
