The placement team in IISc needs to put more effort. IITM placements have been fantastic this year. The companies are already scrambling for students on Day 2 because most students in CS/EE got placed on Day 1.

Everyone just can't wake up and open a company. For creating a job a person needs experience and capital to work through. U might suggest some teens making big but not everyone is fortunate enough. Majority of people have to go through the very same old process of gaining experience and then giving a big shot.

These are the top academic institutions of this country and it is sad to see them only focused on Placements salaries and not on value creation for Industry through research and academics.

This is the case with almost all the big and reputed govt. institutions. Since they run mostly on govt. revenues, the faculty don't teach many extravagant stuffs and focus on the basics (their comfort zone) and thus fail to cater to the ever changing tech landscape. Some of the teachers there are really sluggish and although don't offer much through teaching, expect the students to make high-end projects often marked by a sense of grandiose! This affects their self-confidence and morale and when the placement season starts they begin to falter and due to lack of confidence, get rejected miserably in the interviews. The govt. institutions' inability to attract companies of all sorts let alone the big ones seems to aggravate this issue!

This assignment business is what going on in all those so called top colleges and the syllabus is compromised keeping various facto5in mind. NIRF forced the colleges to woo their students and try to get good rating from them.

AI talent requires PhD or experience and position is for research scientist. Big tech are hiring them directly in US where they are available in bulk.

There are 2 spectrums... working in AI un fundamental sense like any specialized fast evolving area will need PhD (atleast preferred), but India nobody is doing it. The other end of building solutions which use AI need good engineering skills only now with Gen AI even an AI degree is overkill...having fundamentals right is good, but not even necessary...and AI is most democratized subject anyone with decent math and programming can pick up...i think it will be good if everyone stops trying to get into this side of AI

I think IISc is best suited for students who are genuinely interested in research. If placements are the main goal, IITs might be a better fit. It’s not really a fault of IISc, it’s just that research is its main focus.

Even, for students passing out of IISc as well, the first campus placements decides a lot of their trajectory of career (and life as well), and assume there is dedicated department to be lazy on that part for you I visited campus two weeks back, having discussed with students in both batches and their hopelessness, and from my own experience during 2019. OCCaP should be dissolved first, the pre-2016 system where departments handle their own placements, where alumni and faculties can help students with their network should be the way in this low market. Ideally erase OCCaP from existing or if not let it be a backup.

Because JEE advance>>> GATE I would suggest taking IITs .. because u will be competing with the best brains of the nation in IIT ... Competition will bring your best ... Suppose you are Mtech at IIT and you are surrounded by the Btechs you will have a conversation, exchange of ideas you will understand how these guys think .. there are clubs where u find crazy people and you will develop your skills a lot ... While if you are at IISC there will be only mtechs who did their btechs from tier 3 clg out of only 1% are good candidates having knowledge... It won't create an impact Average Mtech at IIT >> Mtech at IISC Let's consider one scenario for example See the competitive coders ar IIT and IISC U will find many people doing codeforces but at IISC u will find hardly And everyone knows how imp it is to have DSA knowledge to clear OAs and interviews of big companies This is just one scenario Companies visit IITs for btechs And Mtechs get advantage that's it
