Oh my heavens! I didn't have a sweet treat for tomorrow at work so I made these 'on the fly'. I didn't have any quick cooking oats, so I just used the rolled old fashioned kind and added about a tablespoon more coconut oil. I thought they might need it since the oats weren't the quick kind. It turned out AMAZING! (I'm still going to buy some quick oats though). Absolutely decadent and a real treat. I have never liked dark chocolate so I used semi-sweet chips, but I'm thinking I'll try half dark, half semi-sweet next time to try to tame my crazy sugar-addicted self. Thank you so much, I'm so glad I found your channel. Folks, try these, they are easy and absolutely delightful!

@@HowToCookSmarter i know you did not ask me for advice, but, I’m trying to lose weight and reduce calories. So your receipts are fantastic starting points for me, but I would recommend doing stuff a little bit with less calories, such as reducing the amount of coconut oil you use. One example: your healthy snickers bar receptor uses a lot of coconut oil, and here I can see another way of adding the chocolate layer without that. That would be my $0.02...

Hi Howard, thank you for your constant support, it means a lot to me. I enjoyed making this particular video, and it is different in some way, compared to other videos on my channel. I guess it's because I opened this new topic of healthy desserts. You know desserts are indulgent and more adorable by itself, also there's new textures, different angles and shiny chocolate involved. I'm not really good with desserts, but I'll keep filming and learn by doing.
@SFmusic1005 жыл бұрын
How To Cook Smarter Hi Sasha. I was quite surprised to see you make a dessert. My impression of you from your videos was that you were a person who never touched desserts (nothing wrong with that...I just can’t relate 🤪). This dessert looked so decadent and delicious, but also nutritious as well. Is this your original recipe?
@HowToCookSmarter5 жыл бұрын
@@SFmusic100 Hi Howard! It's true, I'm not really good at making desserts, it's something I was avoiding all these years of being active in the kitchen. I love eating desserts, but I eat it occasionally, in small quantities. For instance, I'm a big fan of cheesecakes. Lately I've been impressed with all those healthy desserts being popular and I've started to test some recipes, using some ingredients I've never used before and I like it. This recipe is not acually my original recipe, I did my research on this topic and decided to make my own spin on these healthy oatmeal bars.

If I decide to use steel cut oats, would it be a good idea to soak them overnight first? Thank you in advance for your response
@HowToCookSmarter4 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Yeah, it could work too, and yes you should definitely soak them overnight. Anyway, make sure you use the same amount of soaked oats as suggested in the recipe. Talking about the moisture, well try to dry out any excess water, or you can use let's say 2 cups soaked oats combined with 1/2 cup flour of your choice. Anyway, it's something it should be tested out, and I would like to know when you give it a try.
