I bought at $1999 off A$75 a year is CHEAP insurance for something this expensive. Anyway since I am an owner one thing I see constantly NOT spoken about is Onkyo typically produces more power than advertised. The RZ70 is @140w but bench tests shows it outputs 170w which makes it arguably THE BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK receiver. It's also optimized for Klipsch speakers. The sound is neutral - neither bright like denon nor warm like Marantz. Right in the middle aka switzerland. Lastly, something else not spoken about is how to separate your needs to actually have both killer HTR and HIFI. The HDMI 1 is specifically designed to allow lossless MP3 compression. Anyone that "tunes" their system when everything is being run off of one input (say a firestick or a roku or apple) is not using the receiver to its full native abilities. ANY adjustment you make to your sound affects the entire settings for the input in use. The point I'm trying to drive home here is this receiver has a TON of options specifically for HIFI which if a person doesn't use say an external DAC or even a second firestick specifically for HIFI you're selling your HIFI abilities way short. Anyone that just says, "Tune your system" doesn't know their ass from a hole in the ground. SEPERATE your HTR and HIFI duties and THEN tune them both SEPERATELY using the wonderful options Onkyo has provided in their product natively.

Hey Jiles, I know you said the 70 is for people that want 11 channels but what would you do if like me you want a maximum 5.2.2 system with separate sub channels and all five of your bed layer channels are identical 4ohm speakers (Jamo d500 thx select 2 89db 4ohm). From what I can see the rz 50 is borderline at best and only has a single sub channel and the new rz30 even though it has dual sub out and ticks all my wanted boxes will probably cook itself to death as soon as it's presented with a low impedance speaker, let alone five of them.

@@Thatrandomwhiteguy People typically buy new receivers to upgrade the HDMI / HDCP version or for new decoding formats. Auro, Atmos etc. Sometimes for better network features too: Roon, IP control, etc. Or maybe the way to move to full outboard amplification. Or they want better room correction. Or maybe the way more independent subwoofer channels. Lots of reasons.

It's so odd that the X3800 is compared to the RZs, as the Onkyos absolutely DWARF the Denon in terms of sheer size - though I understand they're being compared based on price. Also, the build quality between the Denon and the RZs is like night and day, and I don't know where Denon gets the balls to charge what they do for an amp with a plastic front panel and knobs. Heck, I hate the fact that we had to pay a grand for the 2800 and THAT was entirely plastic (on the front).
@jjimlee70095 ай бұрын
RZ70 is a nice AVR but honestly, I don't think the RZ70 is a great value right now for an average home theater setup. Not when the RZ50 can do almost everything it can do (mainly less power- though still plenty, no independent subs - but you can get around that and needs external amp for 11ch) and is sold for just $1000 (as of this post). Just add another $100-150 for the external amp to get the full 11 ch setup (7.1.4). If the RZ70 goes to $1500 range, then it be truly worth it. Also on a side note, I hear Dirac is gonna lower prices on their software. Always a good thing when stuff gets cheaper - wonder if that will affect the AVR prices since a lot of them come with Dirac licenses.
