Great job as always. One question. Is it best to have a mirror smooth finish like I see here or not. Just worrying about paint absorption. I think it best if Emulsion sinks into plaster and not lay on top. I know painters usually seal the plaster with either sealer of thinned down paint first. Alls this is is questions mainly for painters. What they find is the best plaster finish. That could then be passed on to plasterers.👍

@@rosco7280 Ok, buddy tell that to the artex board I ripped from a client's ceiling. I personally keyed then coated with SBR. Whacked rough coat on left for one month in my garage It stuck fast and never came off... I wanted to test SBR see what it's good for. As polyvinyl acetate (PVA) is not very good it has its limits. Bonding has cork chippings in it and is lightweight and sticks to plasterboards. hardwall is for high impact areas...again Bonding is a undercoat plaster for low suction backgrounds like concrete (not what he's working on in video). hardwall has high impact resistance and is quicker drying. Browning is better but hard to work with in cold weather.( Got discontinued in 2019). I really don't care if you can't accept those facts...I don't have the time or inclination to convince you. Take this up with British gypsum or better still render the old walls you work with then skim them. After 20 yrs on the trowle I think I know my way around an old building by now. Each to their own. Blaine's not hurting me or you. P.S Better still put your trowle on the wall, push record on ya phone and show him how it's done..

@stevengordon2145 Жыл бұрын
@@rosco7280 👍 Thanks for that... Just one point concrete lintels are ment to be fitted with EML first then rendered if on external walls just in case there is a small risk of thermal bridging as gypsum rock is hydroscopic.. Nobody said anything about hardwall on lentils. I've been my own boss for a very long time every spread I trained is now doing extremely well for themselves... This is not about me or you. Blaine's channel is doing a great job bringing plastering to the wider audience. hopefully a few people take up the trade and home owners get invaluable advice a few are inspired to have a go ...I'm all for it 🥃

@PlasteringForBeginners
@PlasteringForBeginners Жыл бұрын
It was tough because I didn’t want to completely kill the suction. It was grinded back for a better key and SBR applied. Hardwall is better on high suction backgrounds but it was one wall…half painted brick half not. So I decided on Hardwall but tough choice because ideally Bonding would have been used on painted brick. But Bonding isn’t great on bare brick so you’re dammed either way ha! It’s all good though - it was a year ago and it’s still going strong 👍
