Want to START a business? Go here: skool.com/games
If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
Never quit,
Alex
FULL DISCLOSURE
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

33:44 This is the first time I have heard of this nuanced point being made. We say we want to be like X rich person, but that's not who we compare ourselves to when we make decisions. It's usually our friends or family. Guys, stop comparing yourself to friends or family and listening to them if they are not where you are, especially when you already feel like their opinions are wrong.

I needed to hear this. Yesterday I was complaining to my dad about American corruption and how I want to change the world and fight the injustices and how nobody will join forces with me to fight it, only complain in comments and expect the world to change. He responded, “well I’m not going to do a single thing about it. I already served 30 years for my country (in the Air Force, mostly reserves until he was activated after 9/11 and worked at the base stateside) for all these people so I did my part and I won’t do anything else for this ungrateful country.” I said “that is the exact attitude I’m complaining about. Nobody wants to lift a finger to fix the problems and yet they complain the problems still exist.” I will make a change in this world. Mark my words.

@@multivideos951 By focusing on value based pricing, optimizing offers, and refining my sales process, I was able to rapidly scale up. After reading his books, I realized my offers were honestly - SHIT. I was 1. Charging too low 2. It didn't have that mass percieved value offer 3. I did use Grant Cardone's omnipresent marketing 4. I built a team of affiliates- successfuly by giving THEM mass value for their work at the expense of my short term profits, but Alex taught us it is a long-term game 5. Should've been No.1 - I started looking at business in LTV, conversions, performance, etc 6. I hired people(I used to work for 14-16 hours a day for barely €10.000), hiring gave me more time to focus on my own development and more importantly development of the company. 7. Patience, it didn't happen over night really. 8. Refferal programme 9. Gifts for customers Next? Mass Q4 marketing saturation with traditional media ads, paid ads, banners, influencers and restarting affiliates but this time Europe wide. I have a guerilla marketing strategy set in place(I will pay a €10.000-15.000 fine for that, but exposure will be enormus) Important!! I had previous connections I started leveraging to make more connections, I am in business since 17 years old and I do have my own list of do's and dont's and experience, I ran to the ground quiet a few businesses, but kept moving on. I’ve been a supervisor, manager or owner my entire adult life - so 32 years- I’m in one right now but I would never enter a partnership again. It is rare that you’ll both be in the same book let alone the same page.

- associate the pain it takes to earn the money with the thing you are debating purchasing to establish whether it’s worth it - Most people over estimate what they can accomplish in a year and underestimate what they can accomplish in 10 years - Confront your reality and then your reality will start to improve - Your highest expense is ignorance - You don’t want to love money, you want to love making money - The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil - It’s the stack of skills together that create the uniqueness (skill set) - Money loves speed, wealth loves time, poverty loves indecision

at 26:20 you spent $6k for 8 hrs...but you could have spent $5k for a month. What am I missing? I guess you didn't get much in the monthly version vs the 6hrs one on one...is that it?

The truth is that Alex loves the money game - that's why he's so good at it. If you don't love the money game, you're not gonna work as hard - which means you won't get as good, and won't make much money. And that's OK. Go find the game that you love, and accept the life that comes with it (ie less money). The issue is when people THINK they want to play the money game, but half-ass it and end up feeling miserable AND they're still broke.

Something you can concider as well, he said it indirectly, if you can find a Job that is yearly Salary based, not hourly and if you can take less time to do that job. I work about 6h a day with a more then excellent yearly salary for my area, i can use the extra time to do more things gain expertise in something else, basically do whatever else to help increase your income or skills that will lead to a better income
