I remember hearing that all their powers are based on their position in the family. Dad: the provider and strength in the family, so he has super strength. Mom: always getting pulled in every direction, so she has elasticity. Teenager: usually feeling insecure and closed off, so she has invisibility and force fields. Little boy: lots of energy and always on the move, so he has super speed. Baby: unknown and unlimited potential, so he has all sorts of powers. I thought that was kinda cool :)

fun thing to notice on rewatch - when Syndrome is telling Bob about the "I work alone" memory, Bob was there alone when in reality there was a criminal, Bomb Voyage, being dealt with. Syndrome doesn't remember that detail because he was so caught up in being denied his chance to be a hero

Edna lamented that she used to design for gods...meanwhile she can still slap them around and overpower them with sheer force of personality. It's not just her genius designs that keep everyone coming back to her, it's the fact that she's likely the one non-powered person who can keep up with every single one of them, and slap them down if they get too full of themselves.
@lindseysquire84173 жыл бұрын
Something that I feel should be noticed is that in the scene where Violet jumps in front of Dash and puts up a force field to stop the bullets, she doesn't actually have any sort of confidence in her powers. She has no idea if she'll be able to make a force field in time. Violet jumped in there fully willing to take a bullet to save her little brother.

“Can you even do that? How did they not through this case out?” Yes, you could sue for harm caused to someone while trying to save them during the time period that news clip was supposed to take place. Shortly after, “Good Samaritan” laws were passed to make it so you can’t sue someone for harm caused by trying to save their lives unless their wishes not to are already known. The assumption is it is better to err on the side of saving someone than the opposite. The laws purpose is prevent stuff like that news article from happening- when people are afraid of being punished for helping people, they won’t. That still happens in some countries.

She said that she only looks forward but remember the date and details of the accidents and made sure that she doesn’t make the same mistakes for Roberts. Edna was also concerned about what Robert was doing when she saw his suit was cut on the arm.
@TheKyrix823 жыл бұрын
She knows better than anyone what sort of thing it would take to cut one of her designs, and it's not the sort of thing a civilian would run into. This was the first Pixar movie where I actually felt real tension and worry for the characters. This was a whole new level for Pixar. Brad Bird is a genius. All these massively powerful and super courageous super heroes are absolutely terrified of little tiny Edna. It is pure comedic genius.

What's amazing about Syndrome is how realistic he is. True, he took it to the extreme of madness, but the dissatpointment, losing the huge childhood belief in heroes, in someone you admire deeply, is heartbreaking and hurts deep. And I think most of us have experienced something similar. You can relate, and Mr. Incredible realises his mistake, but it's late, "15 years late". True, he was a young hero, and Incrediboy was a bit too much, but many kids are! It's so easy for adults to dismiss children not thinking of the pain they may cause, making it something small, forgetting they were kids once, and they did the same. That's why Syndrome's final goal makes total sense: make everyone Super, so no one will be (and the fact Dash mentions it earlier is brilliant "we are all super in our own way" "that's another way to say no one is"). He dreamed to become a superhero ever though he wasn't born with super powers, but was rejected by his hero. Of course, his actions are wrong and evil and escalate from bad to worse, but his motifs and context are understandable and relatable. That makes him a great villain, or super villain.

21:23 Basically Buddy/Syndrome’s downfall was to make every machination or well the robot here to be controllable ONLY by him with the only remote he designed that easily got lost the moment he lost control of his own bot. Syndrome could’ve still gone for the remote if he didn’t pass out that easily, his zero-point energy & rocket boots makes him a fairly flight agile & melee fighter to easily throw objects or people around with ease just fine. If he regained consciousness earlier, he would’ve gotten back the remote easily & STILL b able to get the robot back in line despite how smart it is; the robot clearly went ALL the way to retrieve it cuz it calculated & it’s aware it’s the only tool that can SERIOUSLY hamper its agency without outright shutting down or destroying it (or it prolly has the self-destruct button in the event that Buddy wants to “vanquish” the robot threat in his charade plan) The bot went on to trigger its own self-destruct when it’s heart got ripped out prolly in a protocol in case Buddy isn’t there to properly “dispose” the bot when it’s in a serious damaged state, to not allow government officials to find out it’s been rigged from the start.

For an animated film, The Incredibles was too intense & dark for me as a kid. It scared me too. One of the Top 5 best Pixar films!! Genuine reaction Cody!!!❤️

Fun fact: This film pokes fun at Marvel and DC. Here’s what I mean Elastigirl = Mr. Fantastic from Fantastic Four Violet = Invisible Woman from Fantastic Four Dash = The Flash Frozone = Iceman from X-Men Gazerbeam = Cyclops from X-Men The Underminer = The Mole Man from Fantastic Four

I still can’t believe how...well, mature this film actually is. Attempted suicide, suspicions of cheating, “there are children on board”, and that’s just naming a few!

Cody, if you got the DVD special features it is really awesome, they have audio interviews with all the super hero’s (the sad one is the girl killed by the plane turbine cause she was a highschooler), Jack Jack episode which shows what happened when the babysitter made those calls and he got his powers, and my favorite is the Adventures of Me Incredible, Frozone, and Mr Skiperdoo. With that one you HAVE to watch it with Mr Incredible and Frozone commentary its absolutely Hilarious!!!

I think the scene with plane and rockets has to be the most tense scene I ever saw in animated movie to date

Dude. This and Cars are childhood nostalgia for me. I was imitating either Mr.Incredible or Lightning McQueen all around my house. Needless to say, my parents were a little sick of me after all

The Incredibles proved that superhero films of that era are not limited to the usual norms of what makes a superhero movie. You add sitcom-like humor and it's something entirely different.

Heres some awesome info from IMDB on that super tense airplane scene with elastigirl: Helen's use of radio protocol while flying is exceptionally accurate for a movie. In the director's commentary Brad Bird tells that Holly Hunter insisted on learning the lingo and its meaning. The terminology used hints that Elastigirl has had military flight training. "VFR on top" means she is flying in the regime of Visual Flight Rules 'on top' of a cloud cover. She requests "vectors to the initial", directions how to get to the initial landing approach. "Angels 10" is her altitude call, ten thousand feet. This is a military term. Civilian flights use the term "flight level". "Track east" is her direction of travel. "Buddy spike(d)" is a U.S. military brevity code meaning "friendly anti-aircraft radar has locked on to me, (please don't shoot)". "Transmitting in the Blind Guard" is a call on the emergency frequency where two-way communication has not been established. "Abort" is also a military brevity code, a directive meaning "stop the action/mission/attack".

I loved the scene when Dash and Violet realized they could use their powers together. Busted out laughing and said out loud, 'Now, repeat after me: _I AM A HAMSTER!'_ ' 😂😂😂

When you said Mr. Incredible stopping the train was like Spider-Man 2, I realised they were both made in the same year...
