As a newish player, it's shocking how many people I play against spend all their time memorizing theory but immediately hang pieces as soon as they run out of memorized moves.

Yeah this is true. I know three or four moves in most variations of my two openings, except one specific Vienna line called the copycat which I know for like 15 moves. We all got one lol

It's not theory. He's supposed to play Bc5 first. If Eric played Bxf7 instead of Nxf7 it's easy win.
