No child should experience ‘absolutely terrifying’ journey out of Rafah

Nadine Abdullateef, a 13-year-old Palestinian, spoke to Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azzoum in Deir el-Balah in the Gaza Strip after she was forced to flee Rafah.
The teenager said she has been displaced from “many places”, including Nuseirat, Gaza and Rafah - an experience that has left her traumatised.
“My experience from Rafah to Deir el-Balah was absolutely terrifying,” she said.
Nadine said finding a car was difficult and expensive, and the group she was travelling with were forced to split into two and travel at different times.
She said 10 people were packed into the car along with what little luggage they could fit.
“No child should experience that or see that,” she said.
“I do not see a future in Palestine if this keeps going on… this has to stop.”
“Where are the papers that were signed by all the countries about human rights, where did those go?” she said.

@@facehugger3 How hard is it to remain this ignorant nearly eight months on? There is NOWHERE for anyone in the Gaza Strip to go! There hasn't been anywhere safe there since Israel started the assault. They pay lip-service to warning civilians to evacuate. They are told many can't (elderly, sick, pregnant, amputees, families with no transport and nowhere to go for shelter). They name a "safe zone"(usually without any infrastructure - water, shelter, food, medical support, space - to support anyone, far less hundreds of thousands). They are told that. They begin bombing anyway. They also bomb the fleeing refugees. They bomb the "safe zones". If any aid agencies, against all odds, manage to find a way to begin reaching the "safe zones" with water, tents etc, they bomb them. Rafah already contains most of the population of several cities and towns, which were already desperately densely-popuated. When the first families fled Gaza city, they were squeezing into small homes with up to 100 people, unable all to sit down at once. Israel bombed many of these. No-one even knew how many had died, never mind who they were. When the situation in Rafah became so bad that families started trying to return to their destroyed homes in the centre or North of the Strip, Israel bombed them, on the road and in the areas they were returning to. Israel doesn't want them to be safe. They want them to be dead, but with Israel being able to say, "Well, we warned you to leave".
