Wouldn't the hospital staff think Amanda looked even more injured than her father? (Only one health box unchecked...)
@phaerlax4 жыл бұрын
Not quite, because that's superficial damage, and her father took aggravated. Serious cuts do aggravated damage to humans and superficial damage to vampires. But yes, they'd notice she was all scratched up (not bleeding necessarily, because vampires kind of control their blood, but still all torn up). It was a slight and understandable oversight.
@AdryNT4 жыл бұрын
@@phaerlax She would look slashed up, even if the wounds didn't bleed / weren't aggravated damage for a vampire. Have you ever been cut by glass? It isn't pretty... (At a minimum, her clothes would be shredded and bloody, with lacerations all over her upper torso and arms. But she bluffed her way through with, "I found him like this..." Okay, but what about you?) I agree it was a fairly minor oversight, narratively, but it's exactly the sort of incident that can blow up the Masquerade, so I was hoping Jason would do more with it. Maybe next game? ;-)
@phaerlax4 жыл бұрын
@@AdryNT my "not quite" was in regard to her looking *more* injured than her father; beyond that, yes, her own state was clearly overlooked. Understandable with all that was going on lol
@AdryNT4 жыл бұрын
@@phaerlax "Superficial" is relative to how easily the damage heals, which is particular to the creature-type. The exact same wounds could be aggravated or superficial, depending on whether the recipient is human, thin-blood, or full vampire. I concede she may not seem MORE injured, if her father's health boxes are ALL checked. (He is unconscious and dying after all...) But with only one health box unchecked, Amanda would appear very badly injured, either way, and hospital staff don't just ignore that. (With all that was going on, I don't begrudge the oversight. I still thoroughly enjoyed the story! It just stuck out for me, that's all.) I look forward to seeing what Jason does with this story thread. The Giovanni have leverage over Amanda now, and I can't believe they will really delete all copies! They might want something from her one day...

@XoRandomGuyoX4 жыл бұрын
In addition to the darker themes overall, there's a potential pitfall for the idea that the players can be double-crossed and ended at any moment. Some story tellers or groups feed into that, resulting in more of a rogue-like experience intended to end in player death that further limits the potential player base.
@usern4metak3ns4 жыл бұрын
@@XoRandomGuyoX yeah I never liked the good versus evil cliches in WoD content. Like caine and god and lilith. It tempts too many vapid players to be bad or naughty vamps... Like wtf idiots. You're playing a near immortal being, try and roleplay for story sake.
@anvos6584 жыл бұрын
Well it kind of went through a bad few years after Bloodlines 1. Gaming wise WoD was dead in the water, and the first person to buy the IP only knew how to make 1 game. Otherwise Requiem had a lot of disliked changes to the world and systems, that made meta plots a lot less time spanning and made kindred look like they never heard of writing.

As far as action goes...this episode was first class. I enjoyed every moment of it. It's the little extras like holding someone in the way to take your damage...then eating the same person moments later, trying to talk your way out of trouble or trying to make yourself look better than you actually are, throwing an anchor on to another boat to stop it's escape, and staking your prisoner from behind, just to name a few moments, which give this the extra oomph, not to just become good...but truly great!. Very well done! Oh and... Baddass Betty would make a perfect scourge.

@phaerlax4 жыл бұрын
@@ohthreefiftyone Sure thing. In Vampire 5th edition, you have a Humanity tracker; it's pretty much like the Health and Willpower trackers so helpfully displayed at the bottom of the screen when a player character is spotlighted here. Most vampires start out at Humanity 7, some start at Humanity 8 if they're recent and nice. A Stain is a point of "damage" to your humanity; unlike damage to Health and Willpower, you count it from right to left, crossing out the EMPTY boxes. That's because at the end of a session, you do a Remorse roll - roll a quantity of dice equal to the amount of empty boxes you have left (for instance, if Jamison has humanity 7 and one Stain, he rolls two dice, because box #8 and box #9 are empty, box #10 is stained and boxes #7 and below are filled). If you get any successes on the Remorse roll, you manage to remove all stains, having felt enough guilt, shame or general introspection to move on. If you don't get any successes, though, this means you've rationalized what you did and are too ok with it - you remove the Stains, but you lose a Humanity point. This means that the lower your Humanity is, the more likely it is that you can shrug off small amounts of Stains; the higher it is, the more likely that even small evils can corrupt you. The mechanical effect of lower Humanity is that your vampire becomes less empathetic, more alien and monstrous. Lower Humanity gives dice penalties to rolls you make to interact with humans in a non-predatory context, it makes it even more difficult to pretend that you can have sex and to hold down non-blood food instead of throwing it up instantly, that kind of thing. At Humanity 0, a vampire goes into Wassail, the final frenzy, and becomes the Beast; these vampires are known as wights. Convictions are your personal values; usually, you have one to three, and each Conviction is represented by a Touchstone: a living human that you have some affection or obsession for, and who is an example or holder of that particular set of values. For instance, you could have Convictions to "always help women in need", "never break your word" and "the guilty must be punished". Violating your own Convictions can incur Stains, but they can also help you reduce or ignore the Stains you would receive from breaking a Chronicle Tenet - a Tenet is something that the Storyteller decided will warrant Stains for ANY character, based on the story he's telling. Here Jason said that "act like a person, not a Beast" is a chronicle Tenet, and that's why Jamison got a Stain for acting as he did. If he had some kind of Conviction to justify the act (say, "survival of the fittest" or some garbage like that), the Stain might have been waived. Which makes me wonder what kind of Convictions Betty might have :)
@phaerlax4 жыл бұрын
@clarissa35f I believe you are incorrect. Humanity loss happens when you fail your remorse roll at the end of the session; the remorse roll is rolling a quantity of dice equal to the unmarked, unstained boxes in the tracker. There are specific things, such as Diablerie, that can cause you to straight up lose a humanity point right then and there, no stains and no rolls required, but those are exceptions that don't contradict the standard system. In your example, if someone had 2 stains and 7 humanity, they would roll just one die at the end of the session (boxes #1 to #7 are marked, boxes #10 and #9 are stained, only box #8 is clear). On a success, they remove the stains; on a failure, they remove the stains and a point of humanity- which comes with penalties but also makes it less likely that they will fail again in the future. This reflects the fact that as a vampire's humanity lowers, they become more and more capable of tolerating monstrous actions. Jason chooses to handle humanity a bit differently, having characters roll dice equal to their total unstained humanity to shake off stains; he has told me on twitter that his intention is to make it less easy to drop in humanity when you have a high score, but faster when you start losing it, kind of the opposite logic that the core book uses. At the end of the night, how one handles humanity and stains is up to the storyteller and the player's personal preferences; what I described are the rules in the book, though

Love this show. But I have to say, I'm not that big of the fan of the abrupt endings. I think that works for LA by night, since that's more of a traditional story, but with these guys goofing around and experiencing this system for the first time, I'd really like some table talk, like with the C-team.
@TheWoomAndOnly4 жыл бұрын
Miles I think I’m ok with the abrupt endings, but the “table talk” that occurs during the game takes me out of the moment. I prefer the “thematic” style play of LA by Night, and while Mike is playing up Tom’s naïveté, I feel like he needs to read the scenes better. I am also not a fan of them speaking over each other. Since this is a broadcasted game, I would prefer them to be more “on” vs playing like a home game.

Take a 1000 watt high pressure sodium bulb for instance. When it's fully warmed up you can not look directly into it. It looks like a sun. But the LED that's the equivalent to a 1000 watt HPS gives off a blue ish purple/red spectrum. You can look at. Basically can artificial light that mimics the Sun hurt kindred?

Hi!
