Hawaiian spaghetti isn't too far-fetched when you consider that Filipino spaghetti exists (ah yes, good ol' American colonization), and they eat it with sliced hot dogs and sweetened with a banana sauce dyed red to look like tomatoes. Banana ketchup was created in WWII when there was a shortage of tomatoes but an abundance of bananas. María Orosa came up with it along with many other things (like a palayok oven which enabled people without electricity to bake) that saved many American and Filipino lives alike from starvation.

The lady in the trolley. I used to work at the Tesco and know exactly why it happened. Basically, the lady has mobility issues and would use the electric scooter or wheelchair. Neither were available at the time and they were pressed for time. She was one of my favourite customers. Always kind and polite. I hope she is still about.
