Great editing and the video flowed really well! Didn't waste any time and sped up the boring parts, can't wait to install mine on my 1jz s13!

I watched countless videos and neither showed me how the gauge attaches to the pillar. You showed the bracket on the back. Thanks for that!

Ingenious video. I have a 2020 Camry with a pillar mounted airbags. Would this still work ? Any light you shed on this would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the great videos.
@ForwardMomentum4 жыл бұрын
This is a great question. Personally I would advise against mounting something on an airbag pillar for obvious reasons. I mean you can physically make it work, but the explosive nature of the airbag would make that gauge and pod a missile in a crash. I would look to a plan B, which might involve a sending unit and app or something creative like that. LMK what you decide and thanks for watching!

Not sure about Toyota’s but I totalled my gti with pillar gauges and the pillar just flips to the side when the airbag goes. No injury

I know I’m off topic but I’m wonder how often do you change your transmission fluid . I’ve heard a lot about the Toyota transmission fluid not lasting that long. So I plan on changing everything over to amsoil . Just wanna know your thoughts

Hey there - every 15-20K mi I do a drain and fill using Toyota Type IV. Just put in new amount of what comes out. I think it was around 3 qts for mine. Whatever you do, do NOT flush it!

Thank you my friend! I appreciate the kind words and encouragement. I’ll keep putting out content and see where it goes. There seems to be a niche for older GS models, probably because they last so long!

The best youtube channels are good because of the content not the video production quality. People at large don't pay attention to these kinds of channels unless they love an old Lexus GS300. I agree this man deserves a larger audience.

Hmm.. you think 3 of these could be fitted to our gs's? I need to do this but I'm curious if it will work
@ForwardMomentum4 жыл бұрын
If you’re willing to drill into the pillar cover 3 will work, otherwise I would not trust a couple more trying to hang on. For example on occasion mine will gently rest on the dash and I just push it back into place. Obviously if you have two others above it they would not have the dash to rest on. Hope that makes sense.
@BongoisaPyro4 жыл бұрын
@@ForwardMomentum I see. Maybe what if you drilled 4 holes on the pod top and bottom and fed a zip tie through both holes and pulled off the piller and secure it that way? It's hard to explain but the pods would mold to the pillars. But perhaps some stronger Velcro?
@ForwardMomentum4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I thought of that too. In the end I know if I ever sell the car I’ll remove the AFR (probably) so I didn’t want holes there (or to try and find a used pillar cover).

You’ll need the factory service manual to troubleshoot this. I just don’t know what to tell you to start with. Go to the troubleshooting section of the FSM. Sorry!

For now I plan to keep it. The GS is such a solid platform to drive around. It has enough power and reliability to keep most people happy. Who knows what the future holds though right?

We have a unique blue color 2001 GS300. Looked it up and it is called Blue Onyx Pearl. If all my cars could be this color I'd be a happy man. Just recently upgraded the wheels to the GS400 17" wheels, replaced timing belt, water pump, starter, oil control valve and filter, spark plugs, much wiring and seals. That solved the top end issues. Also, in the process of doing the third round of emptying out the transmission pan and putting in new transmission fluid. The interior needs some detailing. BUT here is where I need help if anyone knows about painting plastic bumper and spoiler. Those are faded. And the hood and roof have chips and the paint looks too thin to buff it out. I tried that and on the hood it caused more small chips. I wonder how difficult it would be to repaint the hood and those plastic faded parts. I need to make a video and post it so pepes can see what I'm dealing with. If you love these old cars eventually the paint will need work to look as good as it drives. That's where we are on that.
@ForwardMomentum4 жыл бұрын
Sounds awesome! Are you on IG? I have some info on there about painting plastic. I finally got it down and my front lip is looking awesome. My next episode will talk about it more a bit. I’m not a paint expert, but with the help of automotive touch up.com, it appears I found an affordable option. The other option, of course, is to remove the parts and take them to a shop. Might be easier on the end. :)

Form the pod so it “grabs” the pillar better. You can also add a little Velcro to the inside of the pod where it touches the pillar cloth.

Pillar mount pods attract police ... and also attract those ricers that want to race. Thats the last thing i want to attract in either of my 3 cars.

Then don’t install one. Bolt the wideband to your hood instead. 😂
