if that is the case, then you have to ask yourself what you actually want from life. and even if you don't find something that you can't make excuses for, just ask yourself if it's really a good thing to just do nothing in the meantime until you find that purpose. why not just try stuff out, even if it might be annoying, disappointing or exhausting. in the end, every experience is worth it. failing is just another way to say 'at least i tried'

I met Quinton when I was about nine. He was living with my sister Toni while she was at uni in Adelaide. He was just as jolly and positive then, in the early 2000s. He is an inspiration and when you meet him you forget about his disability easily. He turns it into ability. I'm privileged to have met him before any of his success. Because it shows me that attitude is everything. And you don't necessarily develop a good one during or after success, but rather cultivate it before hand.

One of the biggest problems in today's society is that people don't know what their passion is. That's a common problem I find with people who are stuck. Once you've found your thing though, the rest is easy. You just gotta work extremely hard. Put in the hours, improve your craft, always focus on getting better at what you do. Also, never blame anyone but yourself for your failures. You've only ever got yourself to blame. Never rely on anyone else either. It's all on you. Just go and WORK. But before any of that, you've got to find your passion first. Which for some people, can be very tricky. But EVERYONE has something.
@curtistilbo6 жыл бұрын
JordanRants although I agree with most of this to work productively you do need to help from others and if you never accept it and rely on them then you will never be as successful as you can be. One person can only go so far alone (this is why Casey has brought in Dan). I also think a healthy balanced work life is the most productive. I myself am a filmmaker running my own business at 19 years old and I have found that taking a break from constant work clears my mind to think of new ideas. Just a few thought but I do like your sentiment! :)

@LaurinGarcia6 жыл бұрын
I am one of those dumb ass people that tends to use obstructions as excuses. I even had a very good example that was shown to me how I shouldn't do that. I have been a fan of the TV reality show called Survivor since the very first episode that was ever aired. My brother, Billy for years kept telling me to audition but I kept making excuses. "I can't leave my job, I'm too fat, I can't swim..." (I thought that last one was the best excuses ever). LOL! One day I happened to find out that they were holding auditions at the Jacob Javits Center here in NYC. I told my brother about it in passing. He said, "Are you going? Are you going to audition?" I got very annoyed and snapped at him saying, "NO! You go!" He got annoyed back and said, "Fine, I will!" So Billy did. He went and audition. After many months and many call backs he was asked to go to the final 50 interviews in LA. When he came back he said his arm hurts because they gave him a immunization shot. My mouth dropped open because I knew exactly what that meant. He made it! He got on the show! A few weeks later my brother, Billy went to the Cook Islands as one of 20 contestants on Survivor fighting for a chance to win one million dollars. He didn't win. In fact, he was the second person voted off the show that season but just being in the show opened doors for him that he could have never imagined. He has acted in a few horror movies, he has done a Doritos commercial, he does countless of charity works, he has been on numerous TV shows (including The David Letterman Show), starred in a documentary movie about reality TV and he still to this day does interviews and podcasts from around the world. And that is just naming a few of the opportunities that came to him as a result of being on Survivor. Every now and then Survivor asks if he can play again but some how the producers keep changing the format and theme of the season making picking Billy no longer a perfect fit for that particular game. But Billy never gives up hope. He loves riding the wave and has every intention to keep riding it for as long as he can, which so far has been 12 years now. So you may ask, what is the moral of this overly long story? The moral of the story is... The only failures in life is in not trying.

Actually, grabbing the brass ring doesn't mean getting lucky in life. The brass ring was actually a part of a carousel, and if you would reach out and grab the brass ring, you would get a free ride. So what he actually said was that he pushed himself to reach out, and accomplish what others, and possibly himself, didn't think that he could do. Also, great video Casey.

he said "one of the greatest american comedians". He did not say north american. He clearly meant american as in USA.

I had a rough day that made me feel like I wasn't good enough at what I need to be good at. This video was perfect. I will have to try to watch it more to remind myself not to dwell on my excuses. I love the bit about living or dying. "Fuck it, i'll live" so simple yet so potent. Thanks Casey, for reminding me why I subscribe.

Yes because if not for his inspiring story it would be easier to follow Denmark and abort babies with conditions like his before they have a chance to over come their obstacles. This is one of the negative implications to a laissez faire abortion policy.
