It's important to note that Projects count as experience. and although you may not like certs it count as "experience" if you can finesse it. She right though, I did a Phishing email cybersecurity project, with known company that we use day to day, that i was able to flex during an interview, and they are calling me in to meet the team but we'll see. Great interview nevertheless
@ttvmikrowaveАй бұрын
Congrats brotha for that is the way to go. Truthfully, with enough experience is how you can brand yourself as a SME allowing you to charge billables higher than most engineer or analyst roles. Especially, if you know how to configure the security tool from pre-prod to prod in and of itself so others can leverage it.
@TechTualChatterАй бұрын
@@nathanmahoney-sw2lh I agree projects can count as experience but some people don’t have the right projects to add to a resume. Certs don’t count as experience especially if you can memorize the material then pass it. What did you really learn?

I’m in the process changing career to cybersecurity. I started with the CompTia A+ and passed it in August. I’m currently studying for the security+. My plan is take security+ prior starting a bachelor’s program in spring semester in computer systems networking. Can you please list the organizations she mentioned on the video for me, that way I can look into them. I kind of had a hard time hearing the names when she mentioned them lol. You guys are saying a lot of nurses are doing it for the check (I agree with that sentiment but thankfully it's not most of us), however, there are also a lot of other factors for minimal or lack of care unfortunately. Just to give perspective as a nurse who worked in a nursing home-the ratio of nurse to pt in general is 1:20-30 patients. Plus, you have to chart, deal with emergencies, find time to pee, maybe eat, dealing with everyone that's calling you on the phone, getting verbally and physically abused and still show up in your room like none of this happened. Just providing perspective. Ok back to tech 🙂
@TechTualChatterАй бұрын
@@Tamara_YT trust me I understand I think things like that are when someone fixes the operation portion of the job especially being understaffed. It’s giving “greedy” from the owners of the nursing homes
@Tamara_YTАй бұрын
@TechTualChatter You got it! There are staffing issues everywhere in nursing bedside care, but the nursing homes have always been notorious for their ratios. Those CEOs make a lot of money and in my experience the staff resources and patient supplies are minimal. It's bad but just wanted to remind everyone that some people can do things for money (not me but I've worked alongside those people) and still do the best job possible but are still limited due to the constraints of their job situation as well.

Loveeeee this episode! so inspiring! I too have had many jobs ha, but I haven't worked in almost 4 years. 4 kids, including 9 month old twins, and my husband is filling in the gaps like crazy. So when I have to study and do things, he has the children. I've found a great mentor (have a focused roadmap) and there is no IG or social media on my phone. just LinkedIn lol -- I already have a Masters so I'm not going back to school, but definitely feels like I'm in school right now. Going to a women in Security event on Tuesday. You also put me on to Kenneth Ellington and I will likely join the academy in the beginning of the year. These are amazing, thank you!

I'm wondering the same about the "woman with children" hiring bias. esp since I've been at home. but I doula'd for almost 3 yrs, so if anybody worrying about call, baby I've done it. babies come at any time of the night.

@@TechTualChatter Its super easy to make cold brew - Use a 32 oz mason jar and some coffee grounds. 3/4 cup grounds and fill the mason jar up (w/some of that fresh water from the machine lol) - let it sit on the counter overnight, anywhere from 6-24 hours. Strain the grounds. This is basically a concentrate but I just add 3/4 cup of the concentrate to a 16 oz mason jar, with some vanilla simple syrup to taste (I make mine, also super easy or you can buy some) and some almond milk, creamer, or milk of choice to fill up the cup. -- Cold brew is less acidic, so also easier on the tummy and it hits hard lol
