Hey mickey u misunderstanding nur (เนื้อ) not a beef it just chicken meat and nhung ( หนัง) = skin
Mickey…I am an American who grew up in Sangklaburi. My family moved to Thailand in 1958 and left in 1967 after building a hospital, a church and a school for the gorgeous people in the village. Your video brought me to tears with appreciation of your effort to portray the beauty of the village and the people who live there. I feel so homesick after seeing the sites and scenes. I know the village that I knew no longer exists but I thank you for giving me the spirit of the village.

Can I check if grab or gojek is available there? As I am planning to go there
Mickey, it was just a misunderstanding. “เนื้อ (nuea)” has 2 meaning, one means beef but another means meat. The lady said “this is nuea and this is nang” which mean “this is chicken meat and this is chicken skin”. If you wanna make sure that your order is beef, you may said “เนื้อวัว (nuea woa)”.

Around 2008, I had a conversation with a foreign tourist, he asked me, "Have you ever been to Sangkhlaburi?" I replied, "No, not yet" “You have to go there. It's amazing.” I've been there 6 times since then

25:27 Oh...it is very much a chicken.😂 In 22:48, when you asked her is that a chicken barbecue, she's actually said yes, and then explained to you which part of the chicken she used in that section. Normally, this type of chicken BBQ came seperately; the meat, the skin, the wing, the liver, etc. To clarify, the word "เนื้อ/Nuea" in Thai can mean both 'meat' and 'beef' (yeah, it can be both general term and specific term, confusing, I know 🤣), I don't know the exact reason but one of the popular theory is that it's the evolution of the language (long story). Apparently, you have to look carefully at the context when use this word, in this situation she thought your "Nuea" meant chicken meat (because the other parts are already seperated). If you not sure which "Nuea" it meant, next time you can be more specific by ask again if that is "Nuea Wua(cow meat/beef)"or not. They will understand and tell you right away. Good luck!

LOL. That's a real chicken. But the lady is trying to tell you that part is chicken meat. Thais often call for short of animal meat is "neūa (meat)" For example: neūa kai = chicken meat, neūa mū = pork, neūa wūa = beef. And she tried to say that the one next to it was the part of the chicken skin.

The smell of burning bamboo in the morning the children marching to school across the bridge, some people wearing traditional clothes and the yellow paint on some of their faces...never found out what it was. Also lots of interesting old temples and some of the coolest insects I've ever seen. Edit: looking back at my old photos I was there 2017 March and could walk around the temple so was able to take a lot of photos.
