I’m not generally a fan of audiobooks, but occasionally they do have a small role in my life. I subscribed to your channel within the last 2 or 3 months, because I gave one of your readings a quick listen and was impressed enough to subscribe. I figured that there would be a time in the future that I might have need of a good audiobook, and I didn’t want to have to waste time in searching for a good reader if I was in a hurry. I’m a big proponent of being prepared in advance for any situation that may arise, even for the little things. Anyway, this popped up in my suggested feed, and I thought that the thumbnail looked pretty interesting. I decided to listen to it while taking my dog for our morning walk, as the length coincided with the amount of time that we’re usually out. I thoroughly enjoyed your reading of it, and I wanted to say that your voice is just incredible- not just your voice acting, which was also fantastic, but your voice was just so perfect for these characters, especially the lower pitched voice. Really, really impressive, and if you’re always this good, I might just try listening to more audiobooks while I paint, rather than only lore or music. Sorry for such a long comment- I have a very tough time being succinct, but I had to say thank you so much, for your hard work, and for the great video.

💯 It also reminds me that as a mortal, I can appreciate the transhuman supremacy of Astartes, I'd just rather do it from a distance. This sort of emotional instability is precisely why they are terrifying warp-tainted psychopaths. Dude was literally drowning in the abyss of his millions count war crime memories, and one minute later he's giggling like a toddler running down a hallway, that's too quick a switch up to be considered normal.

@@xavis_dad people aren't exactly defined by all the things they did, all at the same time. Life grows around trauma or happiness in a natural way that allows for a naturally wide range of emotions. I, from time to time can be sad because I've lost an eye, an ear and half of my left leg due to various war-related reasons, but it doesn't stop me from watching videos about cats or learning how to cook. Only one-dimensional people are incapable of escaping few defining traits of their personality.

The Lamenters aren’t the ones flawed. The rest of the Imperium is. They’ve casted away their humanity to feel superior and they don’t fulfill their true duty. They aren’t the bulwark against the dark like they say in the oath. The Lamenters are the only ones fulfill their promises and duty. Even if it costs them their lives.

I’m speechless. From the beginning to the end. I sat in somber silence reflecting on the words spoken. And actions taken. Then cried. Cried as I too felt the agony and sadness. That “Stygian void” as it crept around me. I then felt comfort and pride, and a reminder that I too was not alone; and then found myself grinning and laughing at the end - like a child. From the writing to the narration this was beautiful. Thank you for bringing this to life.

Well, for the Lamenters it's personal...the Mortifactors abandoned them during the Siege of Corillia and so the Lamenters ended up getting shafted even worse then usual. Kudos to the author for doing their research... However, I think it's rather cool and ironic that the Mortifactors are Ultramarines descendents...it just goes to show that even something as 'vanilla' as Bobby G's gene-seed can get interesting and creepy when stuffed into the right people (in this case: literal highly-superstitious cannibals). Both the Mortifactors and Lamenters are neat Chapters for very different reasons - they just have no business sharing the same battlefield

One where they are the only ones that respond to the call of a world, where unknown to them death company marines have been deployed. One where confused and battered both chapters refuse to let citizens and their own blood angles cousins die. Then a conversation between donte and Tusan knowing that the salamanders could be trusted with this knowledge. Of all the chapters, the salamanders and lamenters can be true brothers in arms with a damned chapter

If anything the Emperor was too inhuman to see how human He had made the Primarchs by that point. Had He been a little less of a figurehead, and a little more of a man, things could have gone very differently. While I wasn't expecting this to be a conversation-driven story without any action/killing I throughly enjoyed it nonetheless. Being a Lamenter must be utterly exhausting/draining both mentally and psychologically since they are kind and empathetic while also being the Emperor’s transhuman angels of death. This story captured that struggle perfectly; the depression-attack was especially noteworthy. I also enjoyed the tender, lightly humorous ending. So when you get one through the eye of a "flawed" chapter such as the Lamenters who still have those such feeling that give them a dynamic that in my mind make them some what greater than those who do not. I keep coming back to this story, whenever I'm bored or don't know what I want to see/listen to, this is my go to. So much emotion in this story, and Vox you do it more than justice bringing it to life. It still almost brings me to tears at times, even tho I've listened to it idek how many times at this point. You have easily become my favorite KZbinr. Keep up the amazing work, I am so looking forward to anything you have yet to release.

@@caleblandrum8357 Hi Caleb, thank you for your kind words (I'm the author); when I first sent this story to Vox I was a bit worried he wouldn't want to narrate it because it was just two Space Marines talking, and no action. Fortunately he did, and it was very well-received. I am currently writing a prequel where we actually see Captain Rytcher refuse the Iron Halo. It's a bit too long for Vox to narrate so I will just post it on my AO3 account if/when I finish it. Thanks for your support ~ T.T

On today's episode of "Man I Feel Bad For the Lamenters". Poor guys often can't catch a break, due to luck and their conscience. No good deed truly does go unpunished for them in the hellscape of the galaxy, but even then they still do have good moments like this. Cool to see how despite their much more human emotions, they still have the mental strength of an Astarte. Overall, nice story. Goes to show not every story featuring Astartes doesn't have to be just war, but can be very emotional as well. Your voice of course really helped bring that emotional aspect to life, wouldn't have been nearly as hard hitting for me otherwise, great job.

This was good. I'm no Blood Angels fan, by any means. I hate them, actually. However, for some reason, I've never had anything against the Lamentors, and this was a great story that only justifies my appreciation of them. Nothing like an Astartes of conscience, as well as duty. Normally, I don't listen to online stories, and I don't do audiobooks, but this was very well narrated and done.

You're going to go into a bit of detail, bud. Are referring to when Sanguinius got mad at Amit after Amit openly proclaimed Horus had betrayed them all at Signus and threatened him? That wasn't an act of psychotic behavior that was a demigod having a visceral reaction to being stabbed in the back by the brother he loved the most. It sounds like your getting the Angel and the Lion mixed up. Also, when did Sanguinius lie? To whom and why? Also Sanguinius and Amit mended their relationship. Additionally Dante is the hero the Imperium totally needs right now. The BAs might be overrated, but there are solid reasons why Sanguinius and his boys are loved by the 40k fandom - if that annoys you so much then that's on you
@RobouteGuilliman-M41
@RobouteGuilliman-M41 2 жыл бұрын
@@thewolfpoet no, you're wrong. Sanguinius was a psycho, because only a psycho treats his subordinates like that. It was not a stab in the back, it was an observation. A correct observation, at that, that Sanguineous was too diluted to see, himself. No, I'm not getting anything confused with any other Primarch. The Imperium has the Primarch that it needs. A Primarch that is so genetically flawed, but it has spawned a legion of bloodthirsty psychopaths is not what the people need. In fact, Sanguineous sounds a lot like another winged psychopath created by the Corpse Emperor. Hm. He even LOOKS like the murderous, psychopathic "Angel". Hmm...
