It's annoying that RWBY just seemed to all have the mentality of, "Oh, I'm alive after falling into oblivion so I guess everyone else is too". And Yang's pissed to see Ruby so they can just push bumblebee. Again. Two character's who's entire "love arch" is that they just get mad at each other, then make up stronger than ever over and over again. Doing my boy Sun dirty. I also agree, I don't like the music for once. I think this was the weakest opening track yet. The final 2/3 of Volume 6 put the nail in the coffin for me. Writing is trash, animation seems to have regressed again (Look at Weiss "Slicing" those vines). I'm just hanging around to see if they make Pyrrah's death mean something, and if they finally make use of Jaune (Not holding my breath). First 3 volumes will always have a special place in my heart. Hell, I'll even give them volume 4. RIP Monty.

What's funny to me is that Yang was mad about seeing Ruby because she thought she died to keep Ruby safe and it ended up being in vain, but she doesn't extend any of that to Blake.

Another reason why the opening scene of Neo transforming compared to FMAs Envy transforming is so weak because in RWBY, the characters have semblances. Ruby can just chalk up Neo's transformation as having a semblance. In FMA, transforming your entire appearance is not an established normality, even with alchemy as their "magic system". It is a lot more shocking and devastating for Hughes than it is for Ruby.

Oh dude, TELL ME ABOUT IT!!!! I have to say, in all my years of watching RWBY, this volume has to be the one with the most lackluster first episode. In fact if anything, it just feels like.....an episode I genuinely believe that the nearly two year hiatus is what fucked the series's comeback. Because any emotional connection we had with the previous volume is gone. Surprisingly, a show that hasn't been on air for quite some time can still come back strong. Especially when it comes to feeling for the characters. All it takes is for the series to be well written. Which, unfortunately, RWBY isn't. At best, it's mid. And at worst, it's an atrocity. It's so tone deaf that even the character's interactions seem static. Think about it: Ruby had just seen her sister, Yang, who should be the closest thing to her next to her mother, fall into an abyss and presumably die. And the first thing she does when reuniting with her is NOT cry tears of joy while hugging her?! And instead have Yang's soon to be girlfriend do it instead?!!! Come on!!!!! *Sigh* The only positive thing I have to say is that the intro for the volume is absolutely amazing. Music-wise that is.

That is true. Any series can come back strong if done right, and it can sometimes make a bigger impact than when it more commonly aired. In RWBY's case it didn't do that, and it even starts as a weak first episode to the new season that should do all in it's power to get the viewers excited. Ruby should've been over the moon to see Yang alive and well. Anyone that has family would lose it out of joy to know that their family member survived something that could result in a possible death. Ruby should've jumped Yang out of happiness, but instead Blake reacts how Ruby should've instead. It just shows that the writers have a lack of understanding of how a real person would react in a situation like that.

That's crazy to think about, and Multiversus has some of Warner's biggest titles characters in that game too. That really shows how damaged the IP is if it isn't in Multiversus. I wouldn't be surprised if that is true, then again you know it's real bad considering that RWBY is on Crunchyroll over the RT website.

Also there is the high possibility that this volume or the next one might be the last one for this series considering the all crap that roosterteeth has been up to in the three years rwby has been silent. And if it is going to indeed happen well then it’s been a fun and crazy ride and it will be missed but not forgotten like the man that birthed this series in the first place.

So good to have you back man, your right this was just a nothing burger no action, no conflict, Team RWBY reunites way too early, more ship baiting, this episode is too weak of an introduction to care about what's going to happen. Not even the intro did it for me, also why have Weiss and Blake find each other when Ruby and Blake fell together. Also also where the fuck are the Mantle/Atlas civilians that fell with them?

Why is it I believe Kale and Caulifla from DBS have a better Sisterly Relationship then Ruby and Yang? Say what ya want about Caulifla and Kale but at least they showed signs of thier friendship albeit brief. But here Yang and Ruby have been at each others throats since V4 and I dont even think they like each other at all anymore.

Tell you something, a detail nobody brought up so far...Why are the regions hexagons? It seems that world could be a rip off of Settlers of Catan or a DnD map, since the paper for that kind of maps is using also a hexagon pattern. And i asume the last one could be a thing, don't forget there was that RWBY DnD Campaign and who was the GM? Right, Eddy Rivas. What when the entire V9 scenario is actually another RWBY DnD Campaign written by Eddy, that was turned into V9 for...still just a theory...CRWBY had no idea for V9. Heck, your telling me they needed so long for this volume, that have only 10 Episodes? The only damn reason would be their intern company issues and their focus on that stupid RWBY × Justice League Movie(s). The entire Company is one big joke and a bad one.

15:35 I'd argue volume 4 and onwards isn't even rwby at all its literally just a different series but because they saw how popular volume 3 was and the dollar signs were in there eyes they needed to keep pumping out chasing a dollar sign without having any idea or planning for what they wanted to do with the series moving forward volume 1-3 are a completely self contained series if u pretend salem doesn't exist then thats ur ending for rwby right there and as for volume 9 i have no interest nor care for watching it cause its a waste of time and effort great review.
