Thanks for the video. I had mine atop on the way back from the beach. Just died, no lights nothing. Checked fuses, all were good, checked the wires you showed for power, they all had power like they should. Was gonna start looking for a new hvac module to replace it, thinking it was bad. Luckily I decided to try one more thing. I took an eraser, the flat beveled edge kind. Ran the eraser over the metal contacts where the plug goes to the climate control. The eraser cleans the contacts. Sprayed a can of dexotit on the contacts(Amazon has it, its electrical contact cleaner). Its now working as good as new. Maybe this will help someone else that is in a similar position

Dude you’re the man. My bro just bought a 91 chev 2500. Couldn’t figure out the heater issue. This worked like a charm. A relay is ticking off and on in the dash we gotta find now but heater works. Love you.

I, too, have a '92 Suburban. The fusible link that controls the a.c./blower burns out at the junction block underneath the hood. Also, to the Headless Horseman, check your relay and headlight switch connector to see if it has melted. If so, it might be the fusible link at the battery junction fuse block.

Just here to pay my dues. I had the exact same problem and symptoms and similarly my connector was burnt and corroded. I bypassed the connector and put the wires together and it worked aswell.

Wait, did you connect all of them to each other, or each individual to it's corresponding wire
@BARBARRIER6 жыл бұрын
Each to their own wire. color to color. Just hold the plug together like it's supposed to be connected, then you can tell what gets connected to what.

along with this issue I had another and it was a melted plug behind glove box(3 wire, red, green and light green) be careful not to ground the red wire( the actual one that melted connector) onto the computer body!!!!(and yes I should have disconnected the battery first but this was instant feedback when touching red wires together) This was my problem and once I cut the connector out, reattached the red wire my heater control came back to life, this is after buying another control unit,(old unit still good),and fixing bad wires as described in this video the control unit still did not work, I had to fix the connection behind glove box, all works now but I still don't have good heat I assume this is one of the 3 doors in the system, but hope this addition helps someone as these are a real brain buster since you cant find a good wiring diagram not even online and a Haynes/Chilton book forget it (worthless anymore)

Wat if the connecters aren't hot wen turning the egnition
@johnmyers68026 жыл бұрын
Anyone have an idea why it burned up in the first place? I did this but put a fuse in place of the black wire and it worked for a few miles then quit again
@BARBARRIER5 жыл бұрын
Blower motors and heater components draw a descent amount of amps. Over time, the connections in some plugs and connectors can loosen, when current flows through the loose connection it will create heat. Enough heat will melt plastic.
